Point System Old New W/Chase WO/Chase

Looks like making it a point per position except for 1st place made things a bit tighter.

before the old points system, wasn't there another one?

Yes, and there was another before that and so on and so on and so on.....

That being said..... It sure would be nice if they could once and for all settle on a consistent structure and leave it the heck alone.

In essence, the new points system made the chase look closer than the old points system would have but the outcome was the same. Interesting.

Why, oh why, do y'all waste your energy on sh!t like this?

The system is what it is and making comparisons to what it would have been under a different system is just redonkulous, IMO.

But carry on...

Why would Racing sites keep posting it

The Chase is the most polarizing thing NASCAR's ever done.

I like Tony a hell of a lot more than I like Carl, and would take a Tony Stewart championship over just about anyone else ('cept for Mark, Harv, Jeff Gordon and Kez). But I also believe the best driver all year should win the championship -- and that was Carl Edwards.

However, with the system as is -- which is a 10 race season -- Tony played the system like a fiddle.

I guess you have accepted the COT and forgotten about The Wing... ;):D

I don't see people, every single day, saying "who would've won the 2010 championship if they hadn't adopted the COT."

I do think that a lot of the people who were opposed to the Chase were opposed to it because Johnson was winning every year. When Tony Stewart won it this year, solely because of the Chase, a lot more people seem to have accepted it.

You said "most polarizing".

There are people who prefer one point system over another and those who just don't care what system is used.

But there was NOBODY who did NOT have an opinion on the COT when it was introduced. And NOBODY liked the wing.

That's all I was saying.

Yea, the wing was a total failure and I'm glad they brought back the spoiler.

I didn't like the COT at first, but I'll be honest, I came around to it and I now appreciate it due to the safety features that keep the drivers safe.

Seems to me there were a lot of folks who were knocked for a loop by the introduction of radial tires . Including Dale Sr. who might have had a championship or two taken away .

It's true that some drivers had a hard time adjusting to that change but most of the current crop of drivers never raced on bias ply tires.

The difference is, the wing is gone and NASCAR has improved the COT. There were a lot of great races this year. I still believe that the "give and take" racing and the cookie cutter tracks are responsible for boring racing more than the COT. California, Kansas, Texas, Chicago, Michigan, Charlotte were all boring before the COT came in.

NASCAR admitted the wing was a failure and got rid of it. They have yet to dump the Chase.
