loved seeing the jgr cars for the last 2 weeks points race

thanks brian!

END THE CHASE!

JGR was not points racing today. How can you call that points racing? They were doing everything but moving each other. It was hard clean racing. If one of em had the car to get after the 48 they would've gone right around their teammates.

you will never stop points racing, the goal is to get as many points as poosable and win the championship. To make winning everything, you must give as many points for winning as you
can lose. With only 39 points between second and last, you would need a 50 point spread between first and second. My reasoning is that if you lose 40 points going all out for the win you should be able to recover by winning another race.

Points racing at the short track level usually means a guy running for a championship will run at that track all year, won't travel to other tracks. Certainly doesn't mean rolling around the track hoping he can finish 5th or whatever the minimum might be to hold a points lead. That points racing I'm fine with.

That never happens in short track racing?

How odd.

Points racing has been around since NASCAR became a thing.

No issue with it.

Sandbagging and settling for 16th when you are 7th in points is not points racing. The Chase format has neutered the racing the last couple weeks.

JGR has no one to blame but themselves if the 48 wins the championship.

Why? It would be because they got beat. Just like yesterday. They had nothing for Jimmie. Look at all Jimmie's wins here. They are all like this. Never pushes the car till it drives the way he wants. Always closes it out at the end. The JGR cars were taken to school, and if they loose the title, it will be because of the same reason, being taken to school which is most certainly not by their own hands. In my opinion

I was reading where the little douche said that they handed JJ the win. What a crock.

I'm not a fan of Kyle's general attitude, but it was clear to me that the 11 was the slowest of the three JGR cars during the last 100 laps, and the 18 was the fastest. Keselowski was obviously faster than all of them and was able to force the issue and pass all three. But Busch was not happy with the team's defensive strategy, and I get it. I wouldn't call what happened team orders, but nobody but his own teammates would have let Hamlin ride around out there blocking and holding them back. To hear Hamlin post-race then reference his moving Johnson earlier and how Johnson had to be "realistic" about who was faster was hilarious.

Really? Can you imagine the backlash if the 18 had pulled a bump and run on Kenseth? And Hamlin? From the fans and from those two drivers. I guarantee you if Kyle had moved the 20 and the 11 to make a run at the 48 this entire site would be filled top to bottom with threads about "the little douche". And there wouldn't be enough Kleenex in the universe for Kenseth. They (the 18, 20. and 11) obviously stayed in line to prevent wrecking each other and while the 18 or 20 may not have had anything for the 48, it might have been interesting, and definitely not a crock. If they hadn't been protecting their positions, with Kyle being the best teammate possible (rewatch any of the restarts for evidence), there's a good chance Rowdy wins that thing.

The payout after Homestead is rather large ... particularly at the top of the heap.

This hasn't been a game for a long time.

Shrub didn't have enough for his teammates let alone BKez or JJ so he was wise to take what he could get. He has not always been that way.

Without the chase the whole season is points racing, at this point in the season one driver would probably have the championship wrapped up. But I'm seeing more team racing these days and I'm concerned how that might evolve.

Last week I heard Tony Stewart say that his only mission was to make sure the 41 car advanced into the next round and JJ said his goal was to do everything possible for the 24 car to make it. With power being concentrated with a few teams and the chase team racing and/or orders may be something we have to get used to.

I agree . First place pays the most points. If your car can 't get you first then you try for second. Finishing as high as you can with what you got is points racing.

Nascar threw a yellow for a torn Goody's banner when Jimmie had 2 fenders smoking after contact on the track.

As for Kyle, here's a couple quotes from his website, you seem confused.

  • As the laps wound down Busch reported the car had started handling on the extreme tight side. He slipped a bit in the running order to fifth, which was the position he maintained through to the checkered flag.
“We had a great M&M’S Halloween Camry. We should have been a little farther toward the front, but we tightened up there and we couldn't pass."

Better now?

Better? If I was any better you couldn't stand me!!!

I have said it a million times that Shrub is a premier wheel man but also a miserable little prick.

Hamlin is doing what he has to so he can keep his sponsor happy, that's all that matters to him.
His whining team mates should have gotten their cars better. End of Story.
