With 5 down, 5 to go, the Chase is closer than in recent history.

Vote and explain your pick, just a fun little thing to do :)

I say Harvick...

Burton will wreck at Martinsville and Kenseth's luck will run out. There are still 2 tracks coming up Harvick has won at and at every track (except Texas), Harvick historically runs good. I don't think Burton is consistent enough and Kenseth is overdue for a bit of bad-luck.

I think it'll come down to Harvick and Kenseth in the Chase and Phoenix will be the deciding factor. I think Harvick will win at Martinsville and Phoenix and secure the title in Homestead.

My top 10

10. Gordon is done,
9. Busch has the same fate as jeffy,
8. Kahne will win one more race and get in the top 5,
7. Hamilen Had a good year, but afried if he does win it, he will get very big headed and will have the same fate as BuckShot or Atwood....rose to fame to fast
6. Martin will crash yet again and blaime someone else,
5. Dale Jr. Has really turned around from last year, but not enough to win his 1st cup
4. Harvick will most likly let his head swell a little,
3. Matt will run out of luck,
2. Johnson will be the brides made again,
1. Burton Moving to RCR was a very smart move, 2006 Nextel Champ

Burton knows his way around the short tracks as well as anyone out there but if it came down Kenseth and Harvick at Martinsville/Phoenix - I'd be putting my money #17.

Personally, I think if Harvick IS a factor it wont be for himself winning the title.

As for Burton's consistancy, I don't see the problem.

JMO.:)

Burton is just too stinkin' unlucky to win it. It has nothing to do with his skill. He's gonna start blowing tires, getting caught up in wrecks, and losing engines soon... (it will happen in races where he leads laps too)

I voted for JJ as what I 'want' to happen (nice comeback)...even though I'm kinda doubtful.... I couldn't put a finger on who'd actually steal it from Burton, and figured JJ would prove the 'unlucky theory' (since JJ has possible/reasonable comeback).

Dale jr had a good run at martinsville this year and has won in texas and atlanta once and phoenix twice. But he sucks at homestead so who knows :idunno: hopefully 4 or 5 guys gave a legitimate shot at the last race

the VP of nextel handing Childress the check while the cingular team is sitting on stage

i'd pay to see that.

Don't worry, they won't have to. I just don't think Burton's team has been consistent enough. Besides, alot of good Kevin-tracks coming up.

And don't count out Kasey or Jimmie either.

I agree Magnethead....that would be priceless. I'd like to see either Burton or even Mark Martin win it. Just hope the gremlins leave Porkchop alone and the 31 car comes out on top. I think Gordon realizes his chances are slim but I'm glad he and Jr. made the chase.

I promise to say "I told you so" win he dose win it.:bounce:

Kasey has become my favorite in the chase. I believe he can overcome the lousy start and overtake the others. Assuming of course, that Burton and Kenseth have a bad race or two in the next five.:)

Don't count your chicken's before the chicken eggs hatch. Stranger things have happened. ;)

I'm not gonna get overconfident and say Harvick'll blow them out because his teams made mistakes as well. But Jeff Burton could easily end up with one of these motors that blow up that have been going in Harvick and Bowyer's cars.

1992: Everybody "knew" Davey Allison would win the championship. avey has a bad run allowing Alan Kulwicki and Bill Elliot to close in. Alan wins.

1994: Everybody "knew" Ernie Irvan could hold off Dale to win the championship. He crashes in an early Saturday morning practice at the Michigan International Speedway and nearly dies. Irvan would return to the track in late 2005.

2002: Everybody "knew" Sterling Marlin had the strongest chance at winning the Championship. He get's critically injured in a crash at Kansas and cannot finish out the season. Championship comes down to the final 40 laps at Homestead.

Not me ;)

I do agree with you their. If he doesnt win it then their still isnt much to be dissapointed about. That team has made probably this biggest comeback of the century. I have been a Burton fan since his first race in the Busch Series Evan when he was struggling. My friends kept on bugging me about it. Wanting me to go to the Jr. camp.

Burton is back in a big way..

So, Harvick's carreer until 2006 has been less than stellar & in 2 seasons, Burton leads the pack, yet Harvick's chances are better ?? Burton made Harvick this year. Kasey has had a Newman-type year from a few years back. I see his car turning back into a pumpkin at the end of the season, and his glass slipper will break. Jimmie is known for falling apart toward the end of the season as well. I'd say the best shots out there are Kenseth and Burton because of experience. Therefore, I voted for Martin because he is my fave and has run good enough to win it, just needs to avoid the lapped morons.

I miss the Raybestos car! I have Burton's rookie diecast somewhere...

ALL of RCR has come around. RCR as a team is back and will be a serious threat not just this year but for many more to come. Dale is watching upstairs with a huge smile on his face...
