Once and for all, the poll. Which do you like on the back of a NASCAR race car. Wing or spolier?

well unlike a lot of people I never had a problem with the wing, just lik I never had a problem with the COT but now that I've seen it the spoiler does look better

I voted spoiler.

I never had a problem with the wing, and thought it looked good. But now that they have the new spoiler on the COT, I like that look better.

But the real reason I voted spoiler is because the drivers like it. I'm no aero expert, but from what I've read the spoiler is the better choice for the type of tracks NASCAR mostly races on: ovals. The spoiler just seems to work better in the tighter racing you see on these tracks.

A wing might be a better option on road courses because of the increased side downforce. NASCAR designed the COT to support a wing or a spoiler. If more road courses are ever added to the schedule, it could be possible to see the wing return for those races.

I have to side with Spike. I don't dig the trash can lid sticking out of the trunk. Like the wing better. I would love the spoiler if they brought the old car back though.

You must have one hell of a big trash can.

For all you splitter fans. :)

Same question to you. Explain your love of the wing? Is it you want the COT to morph into a F1 car?
It isnt so much a love of the wing as it is the fact that the spoiler looks terrible.

The wing is also closer to something you would see on a street car.

Yea if your driving rice. Show me all the GMs, Fords, Mopars, Camerys that come off the showroom floor with a huge a$$ wing on them. oh snap :sarcasm:

We don't like the damn wing because prior to 2007 the cars had spoilers (except for the Superbird and Dodge Daytona). Some of you new-to-the-sport guys are just used to the wing

There's the whole thing in a nutshell right there. NASCAR, with that rediculous wing, spat right in the face of one of the last pieces of tradition we had.

And spike, take a look at your record. Two polls where your are adamant about something, and two polls where you are greatly out-voted.

No. Thats not it but good try. I always thought the spoiler looked stupid. The wing looks stupid but not as stupid. Thats just stupid.

By the way,

Buckey got me. He wins with the spoiler pics.

What the hell does tradition have to do with speed and handling? Who cares? This is a stupid argument. Bring back the old car and I'll be happy with all of it.

If it's a stupid argument, why, oh why are you taking part?

Now get rid of that ridiculous front splitter. That was more stupider than the Wing!

Guys, wing vs. spoiler is a generational thing. Youngsters love rice burners with a wing. Us old farts have loved the grumble of an eight cylinder for years and aside from a few scant years, wings on a race car was only for foreigners. BTW, look at the changes in how funny cars have developed over the years. I mean when the Hemi Underglass looked like the real thing, funny cars were just that. How many kids under 30 these days build a muscle car that isn't a whopping V6? Doesn't matter that those engine now are better and stronger.

I'm 22 and I would much rather have some muscle car than one of those tricked out Honda's I see on the road all the time. I like good American Muscle cars!

I realized it as I was typing. I started thinking about how much I hated the wing when I first saw it now I'm arguing the opposite. I guess I got used to it. Or maybe because I don't drink as much as I used to, I forgot that I hated the COT when it came out. NASCAR has brain washed me.

If only there were more like you out there............

If I want to see a wing I'll watch the V8 Supercars.(oh wait I do watch them)

I hear you. Theres nothing like the sound of a big, fat V8 getting angry.
