Have no idea why somebody would put this program out for **FREE** but golly gosh gee whillikers Batman I'm impressed and as most of you know, I don't impress easy.

Biff Bop Boom and POW!!!!!

Iffin' they'd just come out with one for the iMac I could be impressed too!!

I've been using adaware for quite some time. I even ran it after installing POW to see if maybe that was the hook but nothing came up. Guess the geekster just wants to impress his friends or something.

BG,
Thanks for the info, maybe if I can track it down I'll give it a test ride.

Both De and I both have pow and ad=aware on our computers too..we hate pop ups and spyware too..........so annoying, but they are both good free programs...............:D

I run adaware after every "surfing" episode and after every install of new software. I pretty much know which sites put spyware on you machine. Paul's site does not and either do any of the sites he links to!! A lot of the pop ups put doubleclick (known spyware) on so Pow kills it before it gets put on as a cookie!!:)

Good software.

you can get free software for anything you just gotta know where to look :) :D

Just a note guys. Today (Tue, 9-10-02) I had a critical update for Windows ME. Of course I downloaded and installed it as I always do.......after all, it's "critical". Well guess what. I ran adaware after installing the update from Microsoft's Update site (the one that is put on your start menu on installation) and picked up Alexa.....a known spyware program!! Seems Windows update put it in my registry key located at: softwaremicrosoftinternet explorerextensions{c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa03c157a}.

I've heard the rumors about Microsoft putting spyware on before but I always sort of poo-pooed that and figured it was so much crap.........now, I'm not so sure!! Value your privacy, folks you need something to help. I use Adaware from Lavasoft.......it's free and you can download from CNET's download.com. But download.com puts spyware on........so run adaware after you download and install. Pow pop up stopper will help with spyware since pop ups contain spyware in many instances.
