Positive Vibes For Nascar's Future Thread

I figured if Nascar can have its own deathbed thread it can have a positive thread too. We all know about the challenges that Nascar is facing right now but many times when you go through a period of struggle and readjustment you come out better and stronger.

One of the best things that Nascar has right now is a great broadcasting deal that provides stability to the series as it looks for ways to provide entertainment and competition to the fans. A new car is in the future and there are many new and younger drivers that have either recently started in competition or will in the near future. Younger drivers mean guys that younger fans can relate too and engage with via social media and other platforms. All the Nascar drivers seem young to me but the reality is guys like BKez, Kyle B and Truex are grey beards compared to the newer crop of drivers coming in.

Tracks like Charlotte are spending big bucks to reconfigure the racing surface so each date will provide a different type of racing. Hopefully it will be successful and tracks like MIS, Pocono, Indy and others can see the benefit and make changes. Daytona spent a boatload of money updating its facility and Phoenix either has or will do so and more changes are likely to come to the tracks in order to allow the fans attending to have a good experience.

Yes there are challenges and yes there are more entertainment options vying for our attention but Nascar still has a solid fan base that follows it religiously and it can attract new fans with good product and proper marketing.

I've never been more into the sport and attended as many events annually as I do now. There are plenty of changes that they've made that I don't like and probably never will, but it's still the same sport I fell in love with when I was a youngster. I'm already pumped for 2018!

There is not really a new mix of talent as there is only one way to drive the car to win unless its a fuel mileage race

I think the smaller dollars into the sport is a positive. The teams will shrink in size and spending. That will be very positive and might help them reconnect with both new and old.

I agree with those that have said Nascar could become much better as a smaller organization as with less money comes more opportunity for autonomy in all areas.

Those big TV's at the tracks are nice. Haven't seen the ones at Texas or Charlotte but when I went to Bristol being able to see replays on the Colossus which was cool. No more 4 hours of race traffic entering/leaving the track.

No more ticket waiting lists and ticket prices have gone down in non-premium areas.

Bubba in the 43, Richard Petty remaining relevant in the sport, The Wood Bros gunning for a Championship with one of the best up and coming drivers around, Stage racing totally changing strategy (for the good) Bowman in the 88, Thats just a start. Gonna be fun, the haters that left are missing out

The way I see it is that there are always going to be a select group of individuals who play the game of trying to predict when anything will end. Does not matter if it NASCAR, NFL, NBA, F1, America, or the world, someone's always trying to say that it is all about to end.

No matter what anyone else may say, I will always watch and enjoy NASCAR for the strong, competitive racing that it provides! I fully intend to keep on watching beyond this season. I am actually excited to see what the "newer-looking" NASCAR of 2018 will bring.

This thread truly is an awesome idea, bandit. ;)

Yeah, Daytona has done a great great job with the stadium upgrade and our seats for the 400 are directly across from a jumbo screen, these two thing combined will keep me going back to this event most years.
This is the view from our seats:

It'great!

Pretty good thread, there are a lot of awesome things happening for the sport. The youth wave happening has been a privilege to watch since day one. Veterans like Harvick, Johnson, Truex have been running well and are all Championship contenders. The Zl1Camaro is going to be bad @ss, while The rumor of Dodge returning won’t go away so maybe that will happen. And lastly with the sanctioning agreements with the tracks up in 2020,maybe the schedule will change with tracks that the circuit doesn’t go to. While there things I dislike or disagree with about the sport, it also has a lot to be positive about

Lots of great news and opinions so far and I will add in that it is good news SHR is announcing a driver for the 10 car soon and hopefully that will be followed up with news of Kurt signing to stay in the 41.

Build us one!

There are plenty already.

Here's a good start: Indianapolis Raceway Park, Kern County Raceway, South Boston Speedway, Langley Speedway, Toledo Speedway, Motor Mile Speedway, Greenville-Pickens Speedway, Southern National Motorsports Park, Colorado National Speedway, Evergreen Speedway and Myrtle Beach Speedway.

Oh, the Portland road course and New Jersey road course would be nice additions too.

Yes think about the excitment if the tracks above were added on a future NASCAR video game. It would be thrilling

You cant be serious. None of those places are ready for a cup race and it would take Millions to get them there and I can tell you the owners of these places dont have it. Just for the record I've raced at 7 of the ones you mentioned and while the racing would be great it just couldnt pull it off.

Thompson Speedway in CT just built a new garage for competitors :)

Needs SAFER wall and a reconfigured pit road and a media center....

Tracks don't need a media center. Do you know how many tracks I've gone to that didn't have a media center or press box? This is why they invented tablets and hotspots.

I've watched many races from close proximity to the tracks media center (the ones that are just under or next to race control) and the denizens are always paying attention to something going on in there instead of the race. Writing their story in advance, playing cards, doing their facebook/twitter thing but mostly ignoring the race. Some of these so called experts never even go to the track.

If there was a "Rate The Race" thread for last night's NFL game (Jets @ Bills), I'd rate it a 2. I've also rated Nascar races very low, but not often, and it is even rarer these days than it used to be.

some of these Thursday night NFL games are terrible however for my knowledge I would say last night was the worst one yet this year as all Thurs games for 2017 have been watchable. Well wait... Miami vs Baltimore was last week right? That was brutal. I find myself watching NBA on TNT Thursday nights as well as Thursday night #MACtion on ESPN... when I get bored I'll clear out old races on DVR but man I wish Weds or Thurs night some racing was on TV .

I am with you man. This sport, not just NASCAR, but down to the local short tracks provided me with numerous memories with my Father before he passed. When I had my Son I had not been to a race in nearly 5 years and one day when he was 2 I decided I was going to introduce him to it and my passion for it ignited again. It is now something that I share with my boy on a near weekly basis and it will be ours until he no longer wants to attend it. I hope that day never comes because for it's dollar it is one of the highest forms of entertainment you can purchase on every level. I attend nearly 50 races a year within a 3 hour drive of my house with my Son. He was introduced to the WOO this season as well as the Winter Showdown in Bakersfield. Next year we plan on the Duel in the Desert in Vegas and the year after I'm thinking Boone for the Super Nationals.NASCAR is watched every weekend in my home with my kid. Either live or on DVR and he can tell you every driver in every car. I sometimes think NASCAR taught him how to count.

1 1/2 mile tracks can be made shorter, they already took out most of the seats. All thy have to do is cut off one end and go down to 1 mile.
IMO the shorter tracks don't need soft walls because the speeds are way down.

Yes this

While I am not like all the changes that have took place over the years, I still love NASCAR , that wont change anytime soon, but again, dont let that confuse you that I like and or agree with everything NASCAR has does, I dont.

I can tell you this much, I am super excited to see the new young talent that is taking over and what they are going to do moving forward, its going to be fun to watch .

NASCAR is not dying in my house.
