STAGES 105/210/334 LAPS = 501 MILES

1.5 mile Asphalt Oval

First Cup Race: 1997 First Fall Cup Race: 2005

All Time Cup Wins: Jimmie Johnson (7) Most Active Cup Wins: Kyle Busch (4)

The NASCAR Cup Series makes its annual stop to Texas Motor Speedway for its only Cup Points Race this year as the Semi Final Round Of 8 2021 NASCAR Cup Playoffs begin. After a tumultuous Round Of 12, the playoff pressure doesn’t let up with a Championship 4 invitation there for the taking with a win at The Great American Speedway. Who will win this race and do a Texas Two Step into Phoenix to race for a Championship?

Oh....yay....Texas....also weird I swore it was Kansas this week

This round is obviously going to be interesting. I think Brad can steal a Championship 4 berth just because he runs well and can win at Martinsville. IMO the only shoe in for Phoenix is Larson, the rest you could jumble it and get a different 3 each time

Agreed. All of the top 8 run well at Martinsville, so it's a complete toss up. Larson will win either Texas or Kansas easily. My selfish hope is that the 9 wins the other so that Martinsville is not critical.

Scott Miller on Sirius this morning was diplomatic, but it almost sounds like that scene I posted in another thread from Days of Thunder is about to happen... (the Bill France character reading them the riot act). He insinuated that if it doesn't stop that NASCAR will get involved.

Looks like there are no weather concerns this weekend, mild temperatures too.

Dale Earnhardt throwback

Here's what I mean. Look at the A-pillar (between the windshield and side window) notice a trend? Just a few examples that came to mind....

They even insist on adding it to the throwbacks. So not only is it out of place for being ugly, it's also out of place because it's not authentic to the throwback design. Failure on all levels

That Quartz Hill throwback is hot. Will have to go back and rewatch Darlington since I didn’t get to this year.

There seem to be quite a few full time cup teams who have sponsored rides in the Xfinity series as it is.

Which is fine, except Earnhardt never had that random silver shape on the A-pillar.

That artist thinks it's their trademark or signature or whatever because they insist on adding it to all their designs. It looks awful IMO
Ahh. My bad my bad lol I didn’t notice where you said it at and thought you meant the one at the bottom. Read it to fast

It's an insignificant change overall. Looks good to me...

Wait, I thought the A pillar thing on the Chevies was to fool the laser scanner at inspection. Remember all the start contrast liveries that year amongst everyone? (Bright schemes with a sudden black or dark navy section hiding manipulated bodies? For HMS people pointed out the A pillar, for Ford the SHR cars did it on the rear quarter panels)

(I'm saying this half sarcastically, half with intrigue)

Different strokes. To me, it's like the guys who put a chrome gas door on their pickup or they have a red Mustang and paint the gas door black. Why would anyone want the gas door to stand out? Why not leave it body color? Styling the A-pillar like that brings attention to it, and not in a good way. Looks like the detailer forgot to remove the painter's tape.

And in this case, it's even more annoying that the "artist" feels the need to include their detail on a throwback design. Not a fan.

"Serious consequences" like increased TV ratings, more buzz on social networks and TV sports programs, possibly more butts in the seats, increased sales of souveniers (including ugly Christmas sweaters), etc.

"Boys, have at it!"
