I enjoy building, put a 702 sq ft addition on my last house. Just completed finishing off the basement in this one. I hate dealing with bathrooms! Good luck.

It's our first, and probably last time to ever re-do a bathroom.

Yeah but you have to admit it beats having to run out behind the house late at night with a flashlight to make sure a spider hadn't made their web over the hole...

Problem with bathrooms, shut off valves don't. Toilet flange is probaly rusted, rotted, broken. Subfloor has water damage, rotted.
New fixtures cost a small fortune, store bought vanities are made from chip board and basically junk.
I can't think of anything worse than a bathroom remodel,,,again Good luck!

it's a pier and beam house, so there's a 2 foot area under the house, which helps greatly since the new shower's drain is in a completely different place.

The drywall behind the shower is all moldy so we'll probably pull those out, and the hot water control valve is leaky so it's a canidate too. The floor is cement board (thankfully) but we have to cut out portions of the linoleam and playwood bifloor since the new shower is 38x38 corner shower and old is 34x34 stall.

and now suddenly i seem to be smelling dry wall dust. hmm, i only inhaled unknown pounds of the stuff yesterday...

Darn, that is handy. All you'll have to do is cut a hole in the floor and put a seat over it.

just sent from my dad's camera phone-

You are going to install 1/4" thick strips on your studs so your walls are hanging straight and don't "flare out" at the bottom where the pan has a flange they go over, right?

can't blame you. It was our first, and will be our last. as simple as it looks, we had to move the pipes once and really shoulda moved them again but we needed to be done. They're way off center and we had to modify the right ring, but the stud kinda caused alignment issues so there was no way we could have gone center...3/4" was the most left/right adjustment we had.
