Yes, the awsome Micheal Shumcher took tops today. But closley behind by .019 of a second was Jarno Trulli in the renault followed by Barrichello. The next title contenders were Kimi and Coulthard but they sat well down in 8th and 9th. The williams crew sat in lowly 11th and 14th. Many surprises in store for tomorrow if Renault can keep pace with the new Ferrari still after today on light fuel. look for three stops for some teams on Sunday but most on two. Renault would be smart to qualify tomorrow with light fuel and take another pole.

interesting, williams tested there with ferrari and were slightly faster than the red machines.

Sauber better put the jets on.

Whats toyota doing up there? I guess they have to come to the surface to breath sometime. Finally showing some life, great.

Pizzonia only eight tenths down from MW. Better than his usual 1 sec.

Da Matta knows this track the best out of the F1 circuits. He will fair pretty good i think. Good to see him getting the hang of the Toyota.

Question. It was my understanding that last years F1 Prancing Horses were to have a tranny with contiuously variable capability, but with 6 or 7 presets. Did this ever happen? Is work still continuing in this arena?

As far as I know windsor, they still have gears in the cars and most of the time its 6. Gearboxes are constantly changing, but I don't know as of now if they are going to develop that kind of tranny. Its been rumored that teams are going twards some kind of double clutch setup or trying to develop a rear end that acts like a tranny.

Edited because I found they are still illegal.

What happened to Kimi???

You probally know by now, but kimi decided to try the wide line through turn 7, looked as though he had it sprung too tight and too much downforce for the line through the gravel, heh. As of this point I have not seen the race, nor do I know the results. I think speed has a replay this afternoon.

Actually most teams use 7 speed gearboxe's I know the Ferrari, Mclaren, and Willams do, all of the top teams do as far as Im aware, apart from Renault who still use a 6 speed gearbox, Im not sure why though, but Im sure that they have their reasons for doing so.

First of all, Welcome to the Forums! Here is a cup and the keg is in the corrner there

You sure about the 7 gearbox thing? Willams data says...? I thought they shave the 7gear for weight purposes, I will have to get back to you on how much a gear weighs. I may be wrong but thats where I am coming from. :)
