It's not raining at Watkins Glen, but NASCAR was forced to cancel Friday's activities because of a wet track. Unable to keep moisture from seeping onto the racing surface, Sunday's Sirius at the Glen starting lineup was set by owner's points, meaning road-racing veterans Boris Said and Scott Pruett are going home.

So, Morgan Shepard gets in and Boris Said is out???? Total B.S.

I'm happy cause Tony is on the second row, and at a place like Watkins Glen where track position is huge, its great to see the #20 on the second row.

If Boris wants to race, he oughta enter more than two a year.

Gawd, I'm sticking up for NASCAR...I don't feel too well...

:AHHHH:

Maybe Morgan will let Boris drive his car. Could you imagine? I have this cartoonish image in my head of Boris hauling it into turn one and the car just falls apart.

Theres a few things that could happen. Childress can replace Blaney early by putting Said or Pruett in the 30 car for this race.

That would make soo much sense. I would however feel really bad for Blaney.

Why feel bad for Blaney.. This would just cap off the crappiest week of his RCR career... He should get a ride somewhere.

Really though, this sucks. They should have let them qualify on Saturday. A road race with no Boris Said or Scott Pruett? Thats like not letting Jeff Gordon and Rusty Wallace run at Bristol, well to a lesser extent. I dont like the way they do the provisionals, but I guess there really is no other better method. <_<

A road race without Boris Said or Scott Pruett in the Nextel Cup series is a points race where the regulars in the series have to deal with two less specialists. Just a couple years ago Boris and Scott were a couple of the guys that some team owners kicked the regular driver out of the car for.......that may still happen this Sunday, but they will have to start in the back should an owner hire them and make the guy who earned the points for the starting position sit out. I've never been overly found of the "hired guns" for the roads..........turn about's fair play as far as I'm concerned. If those guys want to avoid any future qualifying rain outs (or wet tracks) they need to enter more than just two races a year.

well i remember in 2002, CHip Ganassi Replace Prueet in Jimmy Spencers place, but i dont think he'll do that with Casey Mears, but whos knows at the moment

Don't get me started on Chip Ganassi!! :D

I haven't heard anything different so I'm pretty sure they do have rain tires......and wipers too for road courses in the Cup series! :) I'm also sure they have never been used during a race.......I'm not sure if anyone has even tested or practiced on a wet course either!! Though Jr did race in the rain during a Rolex 24 hr race at Daytona.

We may find out tomorrow.

As posted in another thread here (I'm too lazy to go find it! :p ) Goodyear has stated that they aren't providing rain tires this year. B)

News to me Maj.............but Intellicast isn't looking too bad for tomorrow. Scattered showers with periods of clouds and sun. Been there, done that a lot in my watching of NASCAR!!

It does look like Charlie will be way east and slightly north by race time!! :D

Dont they have rain tires, in case it rains at a road course?
They said on "Totally NASCAR" last evening that those Goodyear rain tires were produced in 1996 and that over time those tires could be a hazard,so there will be no further possible use of those rain tires and there are no current plans to build new rain tires in this Series.

Three cheers for the posts from EatMorePossum and DEW2 !!!!

Morgan Sheperd tries to qualify each week and has gotten past the terminology of field filler.

Scott Pruett and Boris Said come along for the road courses, their specialty, and try to jump the gravy train. SCREW'EM !!!!!!!

Tough nuggies they cannot race because of the point structure. These teams that show up evey week should be given consideration.

Well at least we know there will be an empty pit stall for someone on pit road after 2 laps

Clickity click here. I went and found where I read it, DE. Read boB's post. It's the last one. ;)

Thanks Maj............I wasn't disputing you, really. :D It was simply news to me........now I know!

Talking about replacing a driver. How about Kyle Petty getting out of his ride for either Boris or Pruett? It would be a good chance for a top 10 finish for a petty car.
