I'm thinking just for analytical purposes to start counting qualifying sessions the way one of the other sites tracks commercials. Track the number of cuppers in the busch races (cup vs busch, qualified cup vs busch) and how the top 35 effects the cup order (how many cars that dont make the race, who are faster than top 35 cars).
For daytona spring busch we had 18 cup and 35 busch, for a total of 53 cars. Only 1 cup driver did not make the race.
Stewart, Bowyer, Franchitti, Ky. Busch, Labonte, Hamlin, Harvick, Truex, Vickers, Kenseth, Kahne, Reutimann, Earnhardt, Biffle, Edwards, Ragan, and Gilliland made the race, while Nemechek did not. Cup made 34% of the drivers, with 32% making the race (17 drivers) and 2% missing the race (1 driver).
Of those who did not make the 500, allmendinger, Elliott, Schrader, Said, Carpentier, McClure, and Marlin would have made the race. 53 cars started in the duels.
Of those who made the race, Johnson, Yeley, Petty, Busch, McMurray, Franchitti, and Burton would have been knocked out. That is a 7 car split, or 13%.
