as much as jeff gordon's drought was publicized, how many races did petty go with out a victory and where did he finish at his last race
 
I'm thinking off the top of me head that is a number of years in the sunset of his career. Like up in the 150 to 200 race range, but not sure.

Figure 40 races a year from the time of his last win, to when he retired and you'll come close.
 
Petty last win was at the Pepsi 400 in Daytona in 84 I beleive and he then raced for 8 more years with about 30 races a year about 240ish
