Question on standalone Truck races...

I'm heading to the Truck races at TMS in a couple of weeks. It will be the first truck race I've been to that didn't involve a Cup race. Is the atmosphere similar as far as around the track activities? Do they have Truck series haulers? Do any of the major sponsors set up booths? There will also be an IRL race that weekend so I'm sure they will have some stuff too.

Just want to get an idea of what to expect as I'm used to the carnival atmosphere that comes along with the Cup races.

Thanks.

well you don't have the crowds and traffic. Thats one thing I like.

I have been to a stand alone race for the Trucks at TMS back in 2002.. They were great. Normally they run in conjunction with IRL in the same weekend. They have a lot of trailers for sponsors so you can get all your stuff. Normally not sold out so you don't have to rush, rush, rush like you have to do in a Cup race. When I went there you could bring in coolers. Same NASCAR crowd as a cup weekend.. HECK DUDE.. IT IS NASCAR!@

Thanks for the info guys. It is indeed a Truck/IRL weekend (and both night races!!). I was just curious how different it would be without the big boys around for the weekend. Hopefully traffic won't be as bad as it was during the Cup race at TMS early this year. Luckily I brought my grill along and cooked out while other struggled in traffic :p I'll do the same just in case they have a turnout like they did for the Busch race this year.

If you are going to texas.. take your umbrella... it always rains...lol

You will find everything you could ever want at the trailers. The crowds usually aren't as large, so the pace is not quite as frenetic.

Coolers are still welcome. :) :)

You don't have the souvenir trailers unfortunately..... and at LVMS last year, they only had one road exit available, so everyone and his brother was taking that exit, it took us like hours to get out of there that and the Truck race was boring for the most part, Brendan Gaughan won by like 10 years over the competition.

Well, nothings cheaper than something free, tickets that is because my mommy is a registered nurse! :D

Just for the record, Happy, TeamHendrick was referring to TEXAS Motor Speedway (not LVMS) and they have quite a few of the Cup driver souvenir trailers here. Most definitely there is J.Gordon, Dale Jr., Ryan Newman, Jimmie Johnson, Mark Martin, Dale Jarrett, Matt Kenseth (I could go on, but you get my drift). There are also the generic trailers for Chevy, Ford, Dodge and I'm sure this year there will be Toyota and then there are the IRL trailers. And, yes, we are still allowed to take our coolers with "refreshments" into the speedway. Looking forward to the weekend of June 11th & 12th! :bounce:

They may not draw the big crowds but they are fun to go to. Went to one At Kentucky Motor Speedway and we had a blast!!! You will enjoy it.

Frankly, I sometimes like the trucks better than the stock cars.
They are generally more exciting.
