Question RE: rule change

As some of you might already know yesterday the FIA came out with a group of new rule changes for the season ahead of us. Most I understand and see their point clearly to why they made the change...BUT...

One change they made I don't see their point at all...

Changes they have made with other things are to try and make things more even between teams with less money and to take away driver aids to make the racing more exciting and stuff....

But now I ask...how does taking away radio communication between driver and the pits have to do with an even field or driver aids? Each team has the radio with driver and pits. I see no reason what so ever to why they have made this change?

Maybe someone can help me out with this.

I can only see it making trouble for drivers...and I believe it's rather dangerous...drivers diving in and out of the pits as they are unsure whether to go in or not...

And personally I like close drag racing down the straight..like Mika and Michael used to do...but now they have to watch for the boards!! They are racers!! let them go out there are race and leave the tactics to those in the pits!

Tiger, my only thought on this might be that they are wanting to prevent another incident where the team tells a driver to pull over and let a teammate pass. Just a thought, but I think the rule is a bit out of line. There has to be a good reason somewhere, doesn't there?

Is that really offical? That is the biggest BS i have ever heard, and it will endanger many lives. It will prevent drivers from taking team orders but wouldnt it have been easier to record team radios? Yea, corner marshals are supposed to warn drivers of danger on track but remember last year at Brazil, where Bernoldi crashed heavily in turn two. The safty car pulled alongside his wrecked car, while bernoldi was out and standing on track. No yellow flags anywhere indicated the incident and Micheal came through at full speed, barely missing the accident and Heidfld followed but slammed into the pace car as the drivers were getting out. That was a very dangerous moment. Radio contact may not have helped in this case but i am sure it has in others. Who really cares if ferrari controls the series next year, but we cant be foolishly endangering lives for the sake of team orders.

buck,
As far as team orders go in Ferrari. Rubens has it written into his contract that he is number 2 to Michael, so I don't see how taking the radio away stops that. And I'm pretty sure other teams have the same thing in place with contracts. I only know of Williams not doing that as Frank likes his drivers to race each other.

Bebi,
Crazy huh...offical it is unfortunately!!

buck,

Team orders have been part of Formula One for years.

while the ban on driver-pit comunication would make "team orders" a little more difficult, and some what more public. It won't end team orders. What is will do is assist in the ban on two-way telemetry. Ferrari for example could spend a lot of money designing a system that would allow the driver to make any adjustments that would have made through the two-way telemetry.
I do not belive this issue out weighs the safty side of the issue.
