if nascar really wants to accomplish something, it's the owners they need to invite to the meeting.

i'd be surprised if the owners weren't advised of their drivers call to the trailer and are welcome to attend if they so choose. just my opinion, someone may actually know if this is true.

I thought they said Saturday that bot drivers nad owners were summoned to the trailer...

NASCAR should get a cage, hire Jimmy Lennon, Jr. and let the drivers "have at it" in the cage for three 15 minute rounds. Since Showtime sponsored the Southern 500, I'm sure they'd air the fights.

Some drivers won't show up though unless they can take their car in with them.

I don't know. I've seen Ryan get in the face of other drivers, and seen Montoya do it. Have to say though I've never seen either one throw a punch.

I think Logano was gonna get knocked out by Newman before all those people got between them.

Naw, he had plenty of time to do it. I think they all like to run their mouths and all, but in the end they know they're drivers and not fighters.

It's being reported that Newman thru a punch at Montoya in the Fri meeting in the NASCRAP trailer.

Some reports surfaced that a physical altercation erupted between the two Friday during the meeting. Newman would divulge no details. "It was a private meeting, that's why we met in the hauler," he said after qualifying second for the Showtime Southern 500. "I'm past all that. We'll work on [Saturday's] race. That's behind us. That's pretty much it."

It was 'back to the hauler' time for Busch and Harvick yesterday @ Dover. Both drivers had to meet with NASCAR President Mike Helton and Vice President of Competition Robin Pemberton before heading onto the track for truck practice. Not much was said as they left the hauler after their meeting but it looks as though they'll be addressing the media before truck practice today. More than likely it'll be broadcast on nascar.com if you wanted to tune in.

What happened in the meeting Thursday before the two drivers went to practice their trucks?

“We talked,” Busch said.

Both drivers are scheduled to address the media Friday morning prior to truck qualifying and Sprint Cup practice.

“You can ask all the questions tomorrow,” Harvick said politely while walking to his truck for practice. “You guys are wasting your time.”
