Delana's Wife: "....when things go wrong, we don't point fingers." :XXROFL:

Tony Stewart: "....I just told them (Delana's Wife's Team) to keep doing what they have been doing all year." Delana's Team got a new crew to start the Chase. :idunno:

Just wow. Add to all of that bull****....One driver with a beer sponsorship uttered the words, "Roger Penske." IMO he has no right to even speak those words. Mr. Penske has more class in the toenail he clipped off yesterday than said driver. :bigfight:

guess we should retort with hamlin's "I won't wreck anybody to win, I have integrity" comment as long as we are getting our butts up in the air about nothing.o_O

Believe that he said he wouldn't sell his soul to the devil. I think Denny would move them and if they wrecked as a result that's somebody else's issue. :D

Amen brother

I heard a little bit of it, including Harvick taking a little jab at Logano. Something to the effect of "why don't you ask Brad to be a rolling chicane for you at Homestead like you were for him at Talladega".
brings up a good point, we might see some of that they were saying also. Little stuff like having a team mate pick a stall in the way of another driver, and I bet the teams will race the other drivers hard, it should be an interesting race. I am going to looking for that kind of stuff.

Harvick quotes: :D
the clear winner on the night was Harvick, who began his portion of the night by saying, "I'm just glad to get here tonight and not know there wasn't a fifth participant added. I didn't know if I was going to show up and Jeff Gordon was going to be here or not."

"I thought you were going to say you were going to send Brad out to be a moving chicane like you were at Talladega," Harvick said.

When asked if he was merely joking with Logano or maybe trying to rattle the guy most view as his stiffest competitor, Harvick didn't relent.

"I told him that after Talladega, ‘That karma will catch up with you, buddy,'" Harvick said. "So he knows I wasn't joking."

Logano quotes:
Logano laughed and brushed off Harvick's attempt at subterfuge both in the group session and later in a breakout with reporters. The 25-year-old even jokingly referenced a comment he made a few years back about how Harvick's wife, DeLana, "wears the firesuit in the family."

"With him, you never know what he's going to say, so I just go with it," Logano said. "I think it's fun. I thought it was a good one.

"The funny thing is, I now drive the Shell (sponsored) car and that's funny because DeLana has that suit so I need to get that suit from her so Brittany (Logano's fiancé) can wear that. I'll ask him. Maybe I should ask DeLana, I guess."

What is all this gossiping about?

pudge also mentioned that Harvick took a dig at Gordon? When was this and what did he say?

championship media day clips on Race Hub tonight

Yeah, wouldn't surprise me at all to see a little "gamesmanship" on Sunday.

I didn't hear that part, but there were some interesting quotes from the presser.

I loved Newman's response when asked what it would mean to win a championship for Richard Childress. He basically said "to be honest, I really wanna win it for me."

These 4 drivers could not be any more vomit-inducing. Listening to any of them talk is like nails on a chalkboard for me. I'll have to root for Kevin, for Tony's sake.

Harvick:
"As soon as I got off the plane today it was like a switch flipped," Harvick said. "You're focused on what you need to do and how you need to do that. The first day of racing for the championship is today."

That Harvick singled out Logano is not happenstance. Not when you consider the two are the title favorites, far faster with a much higher level of consistency than either Hamlin or Newman. And taking into account this is Logano's first time in this situation, Harvick pounced on the opportunity.

Harvick is an Ass

Harvick is an Ass
Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards in 2011 was epic. Talk about trash talking, Tony got into Carl's head really bad that day. You could see Carl was shaken. Harvick is trying to do the same thing is all it is. He knows Joey is his toughest competition.

Tryna get in each other's heads. Good sound bites to use in pre-race stuff. Wont matter as soon as the helmets get put on.

Toughest and least experienced. You could tell Joey was a little thrown by the comment.

Stewart was trash talking during the race also.

His yapping then resumed, as he scoffed on his radio how embarrassed Edwards and the No. 99 team would be when Stewart drove from the back of the field -- twice! -- to beat them.

When more rain forced NASCAR to stop the field for 75 minutes, Stewart confidently walked pit road and sent a message to Edwards.
"We are fixin' to keep delivering this whoopin'; we got more in mind for him the rest of the day," he said in an ESPN interview.

I think the press conference is just over saturated BS, and as someone else has said the BS stops when the green drops.

A driver may screw up Sunday but I think that probably will come from him putting pressure on himself, not from hearing any press conference voices.

All four drivers are seasoned even the young Lagano. I don't see any mental cracks on Sunday. I think they all have been under the pressure cooker before in enough storms to be prepared.

One driver will just have a better day and the Monday morning quarterbacks or bench racers will take off with the head game yip yap. In almost all cases I just see it as a man and machine being superior that day.

Winning doesn't always equate to the best drive of the day anyway. All four of them are taking a different car to Homestead each one has their own inherit strengths and weakness. A driver can drive the best race of of his career Sunday and still not the win the title. He may even gamble Sunday late in the race with tires or milage knowing that is his only chance, when it fails the 'got in his head' chorus will start.

I don't see anything wrong with holding this pre-race press conference with these drivers. Damn, it's the final race and the for of them are going for the title. That's kinda a big deal outside the confines of racing-forums.com and even for some of us that are here. Probably no secret to those of you on here but these type of PR functions are done before every major event. Heck, NASCAR holds press conferences each and every week with the drivers of note for that particular time in the season. I post the links in each and every pre-race thread. I enjoy the heck out of them.

You took the words right out of my mouth, Greg. Well said.

None of this silliness matters IMO. As Chex said, it makes for good sound bites and that's about it.
