"The best laid plans of mice and men....."bit ol' Smokey in the nether region big time on Labor Day in '57. He not only didn't get a one-two finish but left Darlington with one torn up driver and two torn up race cars. The best that Pops could salvage for him was an eleventh place finish after his tangle with Lee Pety.
