There's never been another, before or since, that has had to overcome so many barriers, cultural and otherwise, than Wendell Scott. Driver, father, husband and friend, he did it all with a quiet style and grace that many would do well to imitate.
When anyone starts to complain about any of the injustices in this country, they should think of Wendell Scott. Here was a man who did it the hard way fighting adversity on nearly every front.
He participated in races in many parts of the country some of the "good ole boys" considered to far north.
In a post on diversity elsewhere on this forum, think of the accomplishments of Mr. Wendell Scott. Scott made it work and gained the respect of a lot of people for what he did under the toughest of conditions and trying times during a time when he could not use the same facilities as others.
People of all races, religions and creeds would do well to take a few lessons from the book of life according to Wendell Scott. Here is a man everyone could call their hero. There ain't a whole lot who can garner the respect this man deserves.
I envy Luke 57 for having known and being able to call Wendell his friend.
