......supplier to Holly Farms Poultry in the '60's. Truth be known, the guy who served time for being involved in the whiskey trade probably saved many of his neighbors from the same fate by helping convert the product of his home country from potables to poultry. Here's his last full season Ford ride from the '65 season.

Luke, if you haven't already done so, let me suggest you try and find a copy of the book Return To Thunder Road. Your local library may have it or might could get it on loan for you. There is a lot of history on the moonshine/racing link and tons of information about Junior and Flossie and the Holly Farms emergence as a viable alternative to running liquor. Other drivers are mentioned as well, not the least of which is one of the best dirt drivers I ever saw, L.D. Ottinger. Plenty of shots of them good old '41 Fords that the corn liquor crowd so favored. I think you'd enjoy it. :)

Thanks for the heads up but I'm about two months ahead of you. Hoped there would be more on the filming and background of the movie though. My mom has a place halfway between Chimney Rock and Asheville. The movie was filmed in and around Asheville and I've run....er...driven a lot of the same roads up there.
