One of my fondest racing memories is the week I spent with Neil at Charlotte just after he started driving the Wood Brothers car. It was my first time with "go anywhere" credentials and we hit it off and had a ball.
Every time from then on, whenever he saw me, it would be like we had just been hanging out the week before. Even the last time I saw him was like that and it had been several years since we had seen each other.
A good friend of mine was at Daytona that day and called me at work way before the news broke so that I wouldn't have to hear it on the radio from strangers. That helped, but just a little.
I know how much he missed the driving but I wish sometimes that he could have found as much fullfilment in the broadcasting and stayed out of the cars. But to be honest, that's a very selfish attitude and I appologize for it. Ol' buddy, until me meet again, thanks for the memories.
Another fine GatorBuilt Model.
