"Racecar driver" gets tazered

This is stupid on so many levels. First, I don't blame the guy in the 33 car for getting out after that, dragging that guy out of his car and whooping his ass. The guy certainly deserved it. Second, the safety crew should have jumped in and stopped it instead of standing around doing nothing. Had they done this, there would've been no reason for the cop to come in and get involved.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Spotted for a guy who used to keep a can of mace tied to the roll bar, you come to his window while he's still strapped in and cant defend himself and you were gonna regret it.

I don't know what safety crews get paid at local tracks, but I guarantee it isn't enough for me to jump in the middle of that mess. That guy weighs at least twice what I do, he's wearing padding, and potentially swinging a helmet. I don't blame any of them for looking out for Ol' Number One.

Had the driver kept his frickin' head, there would have been no reason for the safety crew or the cop to get involved. Lay the blame where it's due.

I don't know if I would be able to keep my head if someone drove their racecar into the side of mine (and over the top of it) completely unneccessarily. Someone could have been seriously hurt or killed.

Not saying that violence is the answer but I don't blame the guy that got run over for losing his cool.

Ah, I didn't make myself clear again. The driver who ran over the car is the one I was referring to as not keeping his head.

Remember the days we could celebrate retaliation? Kenseth/Logano comes to mind. :D
I don't know that I celebrated that, and I'm a Matt fan. That wasn't even 'in the heat of battle'. Matt's always been deliberative, but that dish was served stone cold and right out of the freezer.

I was just referencing it in general. I don't remember anyone's stance on it.

And no, not Dollar General. :D

Worth a flashback.....

And people wonder why we have trouble attracting more fans? Looked like a bad WWE promo for an upcoming Summer Slam event.

One of the best things about the forum is the ignore feature.:partytime

There was something in the air this weekend. There was a brawl after the CARS race at South Boston (remind me to never piss off Annabeth Crum) and another on the track at Carteret County Speedway.

And people wonder why we have trouble attracting more fans?

Who is having trouble attracting more fans? Anderson Speedway in Indiana? For mid-October, this "Outlaw Figure 8" race looked to be fairly well attended. I'm sure Anderson Speedway will cease staging the events if they sense fans are no longer attracted to them because of this incident.

At a track where police are present and prepared to intervene in physical altercations, the track crew is likely under explicit instruction not to.

.

The point was about NASCAR. While Anderson Speedway may or may nor be looking for new fans to attend their races NASCAR certainly is looking for new fans to fill the stands and watch their broadcast. NASCAR is very much like Harley-Davidson in the demographics that make up their end user. That isn't a healthy business model to have right now.

I'm pretty sure you knew what I was writing about, but if not, I hope that cleared it up for you.

Associating this event with NASCAR is strange to me, like reacting to one of those yearly stories about a father assaulting a coach or referree at a pee wee football game and wringing hands over what a bad sign a bad sign it is for the NFL.

The most ridiculous aspect of this is that you can almost understand when a guy loses his mind in cases where his car was severely damaged, he got dumped on the last lap, etc. The driver of the black car could have restarted one or two positions behind where he had been, his car no worse for the wear. His reaction was utterly insane even if there is more history to this story.

That's an amusing analogy. You brush off the fact that the short track is the feeder into NASCAR. Also, you hear many short track fans express that NASCAR would be doing more to help out the short tracks as that's what keeps and develops interest in NASCAR. Hey man, no biggie keep defending the idiotic event that really makes motorsports look like a WWE event. That's a sure way to capture new fans. Ding, ding, ding, and in this corner we have...:D

I'm one who never gave a thought to a Nascar comparison looking at his clip. I guess I have been to enough short track racing, powder puffs, and demo derbys to know the difference. Pretty ignorant to make that comparison..and no, not every short track is a feeder to Nascaro_O

At what point did I "defend" the idiotic event? Might want to read later posts. It isn't a NASCAR topic, as evidenced by the thread getting moved from the NASCAR forum.

surprising we don't have a debate on weather a figure 8 race is using the term "race" loosely. It is supposed to be a fun event..as they used to say in the old days..thrills and chills, daredevils take to the figure 8.

That's why I put "racecar driver" in quotes

That's hilarious. Let's pretend that motorsports in general doesn't have a declining fan base. Pretty ignorant to ignore that fact and not notice that elephant in the room. Let's pretend that short tracks aren't feeders for fans into NASCAR too.

Any PR is not good PR in today's world. People who haven't been exposed to motor racing but might be interested in it are going to look at that clip and pass on the experience. I take that back, the types of people that you'd want as fans who would expand your fan base outside of its already shrinking pool are gonna pass. If you don't think that is true then why do you think the NFL is now cracking down on violence in the stands by dumb, drunk, guys when those video's surface? The one that surfaced of the guy punching the other guy in the face in Charlotte got a quick response from both the Team and law enforcement. Within 24 hours the guy who threw the punch was arrested and the Team issued a very public response about wanted the NFL experience to be family friendly.

I know, it is your short track. So, ding, ding, ding...

yep I believe I can justify just about anything when I say it is why there is a declining fan base, and then compare whatever claim to foobah.
