Welcome to the first edition of Racing Forums Power Rankings! This is done like any other Power Ranking -- a few people (in this case me and SlicedBread22) vote on who had the best race with actual ranking and results facotred in as well. We total up points and walla -- you got a set of power rankings! Me and SlicedBread rank top 10, so if you are wondering why your favorite driver who ran a good but not great race isn't on here, that is why. Also, a code to the layout:
(Rank) (Driver Name) (Amount of Points) (Top 5s this season)/(Top 10s this season)/(Wins)(Actual Ranking)
Anyways without any further ado, the power rankings!

1: Bowyer (19) (4-5-0)(5)
Bowyer may not have let the most laps or won the race, but he was up front the whole race and stayed out of trouble. And at a short track, that's just what you need to do.

2: Kenseth (18) (2-5-2)(13)
It seems that when Kenseth has a good race, everything goes his way. And when he has a bad race, nothing does. Richmond was the former.

3: Harvick (14) (1-2-1)(9)
That was a damn good looking paint scheme Harvick had. And a damn fast car.

4: Johnson (11) (4-6-2)(1)
Fun fact -- if Johnson sat out Talledega, he would still be on top of the point standings!

5: Ky Busch (10) (5-5-2)(7)
Richmond played out a lot like 2012 -- he had a great car, but had bad luck strike. Is it too early to wonder if he will miss the chase like last year?

6: Edwards (10) (4-5-1)(2)
It looked like he may have a mediocore race, but he raced his way up through the pack and got a top 5. Don't forget -- he's also quietly in the top 10.

7: Montoya (10) (1-1-0)(24)
I'm sure Montoya could have used some Depend to keep from peeing his pants when the last caution came out. The question is -- when will his next win come?

8: Ku Busch (9) (2-3-0)(20)
Unlike the last few weeks, the elder Busch had a very solid race that ended in a top 10. More importently, he didn't take the media's bate into picking a fight with Tony Stewart.

9: Logano (6) (3-3-0)(17)
If Penske looses the appeal, Logano may loose points. The question is -- will he make the chase despite penalties? If he has runs like he did at Richmond, the answer may be yes.

10: Kahne (2) (4-5-1)(3)
Ever noticed that since winning in Quaker State colors last May, he has done mediocore runing for them ever since? I have

Truex Jr (1)

Hope you guys enjoyed!

After Talledega...

(4)Jimmie Johnson- 19 points(2-5-7)(1)
Last year Jimmie DNFed in 3/4 of the restrictor plate races, and had a best finish of 13th. This year, he's gotton all top 5s. Damn good reason why he's leading the points by 41.

(2)Matt Kenseth -18 points(2-2-6)(11)
Damn, Kenseth has dominated all the restricor plate races (including the Sprint Unlimited), but hasn't been able to win. It seems that may be the kind of season he's having.

(6)Carl Edwards- 16 points(1-5-6)(2)
Carl Edwards this year is like Greg Biffle or Kevin Harvick in previous years -- just when you forget about him, he scores a top 5. He scored a top 5 at dega, but if he would have made his move later, he may just have won.

(-)Martin Truex Jr- 12 points(0-2-4)(13)
Luckily for Truex, wins dont mean everything...

(-)Aric Almirola- 10 points(0-0-4)(7)
Damn, I knew that late surge of performance last year wasn't a fluke. And with Denny Hamlin out of chase contention, could Aric possibly be the driver that would take his place?

(-)David Ragan- 10 points(1-1-1)(26)
All due respect to Ragan, but his performance at Talledega is proof that Restrictor Plate Racing is 90% percent luck.

(-)Dale Earnhardt Jr- 9 points(0-3-6)(3)
Its clear Jr's power at restictor plate races has been transfered to Kenseth for this season.

(-)Brad Keslowski- 8 points(0-4-7)(5)
Well, he didn't wreck. That's pretty much the best thing I can say about Brad's weekend.

(1)Clint Bowyer- 6 points(0-4-5)(4)
Great looking paint scheme Clint ran. Alas, it didn't look to beutiful after the second big one broke loose.

(-)Ricky Stenhouse Jr.-(0-0-0)(16)
In his first full season, Ricky scored his third 11th place finish. Will Ricky getting a top 5 be like Mark Martin winning the 500?

keep up the great effort! i will likely chime in when i have more time. cause i certainly enjoy disagreeing with opinions!;)

Jr hasnt been that hot in recent races, and I cant see Stenhouse above so many veterans

Thanks lol!

But Junior has been consistent, and is third in standings. And Stenhouse only barely made the list, just because so many other people had a crappy day and he had a good (not great) one.

Oh man...boo for knocking KuBu out of the ranking! He ran in the top five all afternoon at Dega, until #10 on your list tried to do something only a dumb rookie would try, and Kurt ended up upside down as a result.

Few drivers have had Kurt's bad luck this season. The first wreck at Daytona barely touched him, but it was enough to shut his grill and overheat his engine, forcing him several laps down to fix, and finishing in the 20s. He had two consecutive ECR engine failures resulting in back to back 37th place finishes (despite riding up front in both races). And then a potential top five finish wiped out by the idiot Stenhouse, and he ends up 30th. With all those 30 something finishes, he's still 20th in points. Even if you gave him a finish in the teens for all the races something went wrong...he's a legit Chase contender. I can't tell if how well he's driving, and how well FRR is performing to support him is going overlooked or not. He's up front and in contention every single week.

This exactly. And the only reason Kurt got knocked out is the finish...

Guys these rankings are on a race to race basis. We will be starting the season-to-date rankings next week as we have only been doing this for 2 weeks we had nothing to go off of. By the next time we do these we will include a season to date power rankings standings.

Okay, now for the ultimate snoozefest Darlington!

(2)Matt Kenseth-20 points (3-3-7)
Even thought Matt and Kyle are teammates, there's no denying that he surely was grinning as Kyle's car tightened up big time.

(1)Jimmie Johnson-17 points (2-6-8)
Jimmie drove a very constitant race -- he was up in the top 5 all day, and may have even come home higher than his 4th place finish had the pit crew done better.

(-)Kyle Busch-17 points (2-5-6)
Don't worry fans -- if he slows falls back in points and drops out of the top 10 like happened last year, he still has those 2 wins to back him up.

(3)Carl Edwards-13 points (1-5-7)
Lately, Carl has been having very quiet runs. However they have all been in the top 10 -- and just like that carl is second in points.

(-)Jeff Gordon-13 points (0-2-3)
In the two races Gordon has run the Cromax Pro scheme, he has run up in the top 5 all day. Unlike the other race, though, he didn't blow a transmission late.

(-)Denny Hamlin-10 points (0-2-2)
Welcome back Denny -- here to great you is your large point deficit! Time to get some wins, huh?

(-)Kevin Harvick-8 points (1-2-3)
Why is it that he has been running better on a week to week basis than last year and yet he's ranked much worse that he was last year at this point? That's point standings, kiddo.

(7)Dale Earnhardt Jr-5 points (0-3-7)
It's funny -- you think about how much of an improvment he's had than last year, until you realize he actually was statiscally better at this time last year.

(-)Kurt Busch-5 points (0-2-3)
All the bad karma Kurt has built up over the last couple years must all be biting him in the butt right now. His car's handling going away is only the latest episode.

(9)Clint Bowyer-1 points (0-4-5)
With the performance Clint has been having lately, it's a suprise that no sponser has come in and picked up the 16 races 5 Hour Energy isn't covering. But for now, it appears he's stuck with week to week sponsers.
Also recieving votes: Juan Pablo Montoya (1)
Also, we have come up with over Power Standings. Basically just the amount of points earned each week and added together.

Richmond-Darlington:

Kenseth -56
Johnson-47
Edwards-39
Kyle Busch-27
Bowyer-26
Harvick-22
Earnhardt Jr-14
Kurt Busch-14
Gordon-13
Truex Jr-12

Only top ten for now, but once a few more races happen, it will likely expand.

(2)Jimmie Johnson-19 points
With this, Jimmie becomes the first person to win 4 all star races -- makes sense, because he is the all star of this generation.

(3)Kyle Busch-19 points
Look on the bright side -- at least he didnt completly and uderly dominate like last week. Plus, he still got a good finish.

(-)Kurt Busch-16 points
Damn, Kurts is having even worse luck than Kyle this season! And thats saying something...

(-)Joey Logano-13 points
Now, if only Joey would run like this in points races...

(-)Kasey Kahne-12 points
That must have been so tempting for Kasey not to turn Kyle Busch. But as they say, will power makes a great driver.

(10)Clint Bowyer-9 points
Look on the bright side, Clint -- after you were a test guinea pig, all the other drivers were extra careful to tale tires. So you helped the community! Don't you feel great, Clint! Clint? Clint?...

(6)Denny Hamlin-7 points
It is clear that none of Hammy's performance was compromised from his back injury. Which raises the question -- will it be enough?

(8)Dale Earnhardt Jr-5 points
If this was 10 years ago, there would be copious headlines proudly stating that Jr got 7th place on the front page. Thank god its 2013.

(-)Jamie McMurray-5 points
Considering how well they ran, the EGR crew would be a fool not to bring the car they ran to Charlotte.

(4)Carl Edwards-4 points
I'm not sure if I've ever seen a polesitter fade that fast...

No standings or top 5/10/wins as this is a non points race.
