I really enjoyed Edwards commentary, as well. As far as drivers getting in the broadcast booth while the race is still running, no one beats Neil Bonnett. In 1993, he gets airborne at Talladega and into the catchfence in a spectacular crash. Then, after getting checked out, he goes into the CBS booth to call the rest of the race. Wow.

Neil Bonnett joins the CBS booth at about 5:25 of this video after his crash. Thanks to youtube we can all re-live some of these great moments.
