Don't know about anyone else, but today is the best day of the year. Racing season starts today. All over the country, local racers will hit their local track for the first time in 2012.

There is NOTHING as good as opening day at a race track.

May be a little difficult here in Texas --- it's raining! :)

Looks as if much of the racing here in East Texas will be a washout tonight --- not that anyone will mind.

our first points race was last week, i think the dirt track opened 2 weeks ago

Bologna burgers and being at a racetrack smelling burning rubber, and no demolition derby... about all I enjoyed today. The race I went to was awful.

Our local track doesn't open for another month or so. Would have liked to go to South Boston for their opener, but alas, I have to work. Tomorrow the mods are racing at Ace Speedway, but again, I hate the way to get to that track and it takes forever to get there, even though it isn't all that far away.

I need to get to Ace and check out the supermods, when are they running this year?

South Boston's opener is probably going to be a new tradition for me. But yesterday's race lacked, well, excitement. Philip Morris didn't show up, Lee Pulliam's still suspended. It's way too early in the year for a 300 lap race.

But I did enjoy the smells of racing and the bologna burgers :)
