Ran out of windshield wiper fluid today & decided to experiment. Picked up some rain-x washer fluid and on first application all I got was an alcohol smell & a fairly annoying fog/glare during the day in certain sun lighting conditions and from headlights of oncoming cars at night. Also some wiper chattering began  So I re-applied it and wiped the windshield with a wet towel and then buffed with a dry towel. So far so good with the glare/streaks and no chattering but I wont know how hydrophobic it really is till it rains, and Ill get back to yall on it's performance.

Anybody else here use rainx? Ive been told that AquaPel is stronger and doesnt cause wiper chattering so I may switch to that soon.

I hate Rain-X. I use No Touch Rain Shield. 1 can lasts me about a year in Seattle. When it's really rainy, I apply it about once a week. All you do is just spray it on a wet windshield and use your wipers. Takes 15 seconds.

I tried it and will never go near it again. Took 2 cans of Diet Coke to get it off.

I even bought a set of their wiper blades and returned them 2 days later.

Yea I was wondering what would get this stuff off.

You have to buff the haze off after you apply it.I have used it thought it worked pretty good but went to just using a good paste wax on the windows just like the paint.Works just the same.

Have you had any wiper chattering problems?

Hm well I buffed it like Lou Ferrigno so hopefully all those streaks stay away. Hopefully I dont have to buff it every time I use the wiper fluid
I seHave never used the wiper fluid.I was talking about the rain-x in the yellow bottle.

Do a half water/half washer fluid mix.... See if that helps.

Bottle says not to dilute. Probably only so it wont mess up with hydrophobic "technology".

No offense, but you might just have sh!tty wipers.
Maybe. But every single negative review of the product states a wiper chattering issue. The rainx formula does cause some places on the windshield to be stickier than the rest of the glass.

What a stupid product. Lol.

Wax the windows once or twice a year and throw the "mouse milk" in the trash

Try using dish soap to get it off your windshield. Just don't get it on your paint unless your going to wax after it.

This^ the man lives in Seattle, he is an expert. I don't think I have seen that around here though, but I will keep an eye out. I wax and it works pretty good. Bugs are a bigger problem right now. Whatever you do, don't put any dish washing soap in there. A buddy pranked me doing that, took forever to get it all out of there.

i make purple power part-time, under a different name and more stronger, anyway a customer said he pours my purple cleaner in his wiper fluid reservoir and it works great.

So far so good... Drove for 2 hours on the interstate in a down pour (not on purpose) and it worked very well. I'll just use up whats left of the washer fluid in the car & try to strip it off after the rainy months. Thanks for the tips guys.

What did you decide to use?

I use RAIN-X on all of my cars. I hardly ever need my wipers when it rains.

But if you live in a warm climate, try taking a gallon milk jug, putting a few drops of DAWN in the bottom and filling it up with water. Shake it up good and put it in your car's windshield washer reservoir. It really does a great job. You can't use it in the winter when it freezes, but for warm weather or in the summer, it is a great cleaner that is very inexpensive.

Try it. You'll love it!!
