What do you know..Jeff on pole..

Nice welcome back for me.

Hi people.

Only reason why Betsy doesnt like Robby is because Robby pulled "THE JEFF GORDON MOVE" on Jeff back in New Hampshire in 2001.

Jeff had the fastest car all race long in that race. Jeff PASSED the "other" Gordon and was bumped out of the lead at the first turn after passing him.
It was obvious to all viewers it was intentional.. As the "other" Gordon had the slower car.

Well it's nice to see that some posters have grown up and not made the obvious joke about the title.
Or, maybe they just have chimed in yet...

Gordon to start from pole after rain washes out quals
Three drivers miss Daytona field despite solid runs

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Qualifying for the Pepsi 400 was washed out Friday, leaving several teams out of the season's second race at NASCAR's most storied track.

Nextel Cup Series points leader Jeff Gordon was awarded the pole. Denny Hamlin will start second, followed by Matt Kenseth, Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Burton.

"It's unfortunate you can't control Mother Nature, and the rules are what the rules are," Gordon said. "It's hard to be too overjoyed about this pole because I do feel for those guys."

Boris Said and two others were poised to make the race, but steady rain forced NASCAR officials to cancel the qualifying session with 14 cars left to make runs. NASCAR couldn't postpone qualifying much longer because of the Busch Series race scheduled to start later Friday.

Said was sitting on the pole when the rain started, and Dave Blaney, Jeremy Mayfield, Kenny Wallace, Michael Waltrip, Scott Riggs and David Reutimann also were in position to make the 43-car field.

But three of the top seven cars that had completed runs were bumped because NASCAR uses owner points to set the starting grid when qualifying gets canceled.

"Believe me, I would rather we qualify and end up 30th or 35th and let those guys do what they earned than back into a second-place start like we did [Friday]," Hamlin said. "It's really not worth it to me because we know what all those other teams are going through just trying to make these races. You definitely sympathize for them."

The top 35 spots in the field were set using owner points. Brian Vickers will start 36th because he won a race last season. Dale Jarrett and Bill Elliott got the next two spots as past series champions.

The last five spots went to Riggs, Blaney, Paul Menard, David Reutimann and Wallace -- based on owner points and number of qualifying attempts this season.

Ward Burton would have gotten in over Wallace, but he had made one less qualifying attempt this season.

"It is a shame for a lot of those guys," Gordon said.

I've got a friend that traveled to Daytona from Montana. She's not real happy about all the rain. Or the fact that she will have to get up at the crack of dawn to make the Busch race and stay all day into the night for the Cup race.

And, she stepped off the curb going back to the bus and got wet to the knees. LOL Called me, cussing a blue streak.

She wasn't happy when I told her it was probably going rain tomorrow. But she also was happy it was cooler in Florida than it was in Montana.

I don't ever remember them re-scheduling a Busch race for the same day as a Cup race. Most fans will probably be glad they don't have to stay another day.

Jeff Gordon is on the pole and that has nothing to do with his sexual orientation.........stolen from talladega nights. couldnt resist Why is mark martin starting 9th when he's in 20th in points?

Man that sucks for Boris Said cause he's had a fast car there the past two seasons so I know he would've made the show had they qualified. Mikey was just starting to get into his groove. That'll suck if it rains all day tomorrow. I thinki what they need to do is first light in the morning roll the cars out & alert the fans somehow that they're gonna start right the Busch race away depending on the weather. At 8am instead of 9. Then if they get it in before it rains then they need to go ahead & roll the Cup cars out. No sense waiting till 6 or 7pm if it's just gonna start raining.

you know what? Boris needs to hire shrub, get kellogs to follow him, that way that 60 car has some owner points, then boris can stick kyle in a non points car for the races he wants to be in. Boris is a owner/driver anyways.

Betsy

And we All know Jeff G. would never bump anyone  . If it would have been the other way around Jeff would have run Robbie into the wall, and i dare you to say he wouldnt.

LOL, your pathetic to hold a grudge from 6 years ago...

By the way, the way you describe that incident, it sounds an awful lot like what Jeff Gordon EXACTLY DID to Rusty Wallace at Bristol a few years back.

Pot meet kettle.

And if the other Gordon had the slower car all along, why did he catch up to Jeff in the first place? ;)

Sure if a slower car was giving him a ton of pain he would "wake em up" ..
But when an obviously faster passes him? NEVER!
Betsy:rolleyes:

He caught up with JEFFY in the sss'es and used JEFFEY"S car to brake himself and to knock Jeffy out of the race.
Betsy:rolleyes:

The biggest, suckiest problem with the rainout is the the top seven qualifers at that time were out of the top 35 in points. The rest of the qualifers that needed to get in on speed really didn't have a chance. It was just disheartening. I was fortunate enough to be there with some free Valvoline suite tickets and stayed dry until time to leave.

Betsy:rolleyes:

Jeff Gordon has spun so many people for wins its not even funny. Just with Rusty alone Jeff has spun him about 3 times on last laps. And they weren't even in the act of passing or as an attempt to pass, they were blatant spin outs.

Please.

Betsy:rolleyes:

Caught up with Jeff on the sss'es?

:XXROFL:

That just shows you have no idea what you are talking about. The race was at New Hampshire. No sss'es at New Hampshire.

Robby had the faster car and was passing. When Robby bumped Jeff Jeff moved up the track and tangled with the lapped car. After the incident Jeff was still in like 4th place with 10 laps left and no damage.

Jeff TOOK HIMSELF out of the race when he hit Robby's car during the caution and received a black flag.

Classic Jeff Gordon fan...dont even know what damn track the race is on...

Well I think I know! The turn in question is on a straight where the CONES were blocking the straight and there is (was) a turn on the righthand side of the straight that was seemingly installed to keep the speeds down. Jeffy passed the "other" Gordon on the straight before the turn and he got DUMPED in that turn..
Betsy

Wrong.

LOL, they just showed Jeff Gordon spinning Matt Kenseth on the last lap intentionally for the win last year at Chicagoland.

Betsy = OWNED! :beerbang:

I didn't see it I was out f the house... But if the slower car in front is BLOCKING the faster car behind him...what do you expect to happen on the last lap?
Betsy

So why do you condemn Robby for doing it?

The announcers, was it Petty?, mentioned that Matt is one of the best blockers in the business while appearing not to be blocking.
Not that that has anything to do with the gentle baby soft oopsie that Jeff gave him last year.

Pathetic.

That was an intentional spin out and you know it. Take off the glasses.
