I have a ton of respect for Rick Hendrick giving Kyle Busch the boot on principle. He knew he had one of the most talented drivers out there, and he was young enough to keep HMS on top after Jeff and JJ fade. By letting him go, Rick made it clear he wasn't going to watch the 5 team get trashed anymore. Not giving talent a pass and standing up for Alan Gustafson is one of the reasons his employees are so faithful to him. I have to give Jack Roush a nod for passing on Kyle for the same reasons. Joe Gibbs' image has taken a beating making excuses and defending that clown.

Cheers, Rick!

Anyone else seeing a big change in Rogers focus on NASCAR racing? I've never heard him come out and say "We HAVE to win a cup championship". He always seemed content to have a profitable NASCAR team, but now he seems to look at it differently.

Here's the big question. Will he finally turn his CC's loose and play in the gray area? Will seeing what HMS is doing, and how the appeal worked out, get him to loosing things up in the engineering department? Brad has talked about how hard it is for CC's to get something OK'd by the engineers. Newman, Addington and Kurt have also expressed frustration with how Penske South operates. Roger has clearly entrusted his reputation with his engineers and not his CC's. Their cars have been fast out of the gate, so maybe things are already on a better path.

principle's and rick hendrick shouldn't be used in the same sentance. roger has been successful in every form of racing he's ventured into. why change now? nascar has always been secondary to his indy racing putting more emphasis on his nascar teams hopefully will make them run better but doubt he'll alter his style much. brad and aj finishing in the top 10 was my bold prediction.

Rainy day ramblings...(to bash the Busch brothers and Rick Hendrick)

Brilliant thread. Just what we need around here.

I gave you and others some advice recently. That was that if one doesn't have something constructive to contribute to a thread then one should simply choose to ignore it. I think that I will take my own advice.

*****! :D

Dudes, it's all opinion. Let 'em rip. Just have some basis to back it up with.

for those that don't remeber, or simply choose to forget. http://yotameister18.wordpress.com/2008/12/26/as-crooked-as-they-get/

it was sickening to me the way jeff kept bringing up rick's leukemia in the winners circle interviews. didn't mention the fact his boss wasn't at the track because he was a convicted felon serving a sentence under house arrest. poor, poor, pity rick hendrick.

I agree with your sentiments about RH but the writer of that blog was pretty biased against the north.

Despite being from country Virginia, and becoming rich in North Carolina, Rick hates rednecks and wants to crush any hope or joy they may have in their miserable, trailer-bound existence. Or at least, that’s my theory for why he signed Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson.

WOW!

I like my new Under Armor shirts. Well worth the extra they cost. I may go back for more.

Rick Hendrick does more to help people on any given day than any of you will do over the course of your entire lives. You people ripping RH from behind your keyboards pretty much defines pathetic.

Best post I've seen on this Forum for awhile.

I never said RH didn't do a lot for his employees or for the sport. I do think he is a crook.

We all have an impact on other peoples lives, some more than others.

You said I was bashing Rick, so you may want to double check.

Anyone who says what Kyle does is OK is simply making excuses for a driver with talent. Anyone who says it doesn't affect the team should look at the effect on the #5 team.
