FIA sources have confirmed to wrc.com that this year's Telstra Rally Australia will not be dropped from the 2003 calendar and is set go ahead as originally scheduled.

The Perth-based event was under threat of expulsion following a contract dispute concerning the event's promoters the Western Australian Tourist Commission and the motorsport governing body in Australia, CAMS.

This dispute now seems to have been settled, a new contract is said to be acceptable to all parties concerned so the ninth round of the World Rally Championship will go ahead as planned on the 4-7 September.

The news that Rally Australia keeps its slot in this year's calendar will be a blow to the Safari Rally, which after being dropped in favour of the Rally of Turkey, had been pushing as a possible replacement should the Australian event have been axed.
