Random thoughts on Indy

Chad's partitions - one of the most brilliant things ever done in recent years. The stalls are so huge at Indy that it probably couldn't happen elsewhere. And Brad Keselowski was so ate up about it, so distracted and wanting to know what Jimmie was doing and why they had those partitions up that he was completely off his game.

Congrats to Rocket Man always nice to see a well deserving underdog pull off a win.....JJ running away with it would make it even a bigger snooze fest........The stands were half empty........NASCAR once again throws Jr a bone, How quickly would have the yellow come out if Mc Murray, Biffle, Burton or for that matter any driver with a limited fan base was in Jr's situation.....Danica does what she does best, I'm glad Tony likes selling shirts and hats....Glad to see ESPN/ABC back happy not to see or listen to Larry Mac, Hammond and especially DW........On to Pocono

There may as well be a mailbox that says "Johnson" resting on Keselowski's ear, because Jimmie Johnson is residing in his head.

Indy represents the worse aspects of Nascars quest to satisfy shareholders at the expense of fans. A big market event thats sucks it way down to ticket sales that are worse than pathetic.
There should be enough passion in the front office to be shamed enough to stop the farce, the degradation of an exciting sport that used to inspire an infinite number of youngsters.

Note: I will tone it down, I dont like being this negative, I will be more pleasant about it tommorow, but that is how I feel at the moment.

I flipped to it once in a while.....

This is the first year since 89 I have not recorded races to watch..This year has been by far the most boring season for me for some reason.

At least with the Indy cars at that place you have some passing going on, not just in the pits.

I don't think a lot of passing automatically equates to a great race or that a great race has to have a lot of passing. However, Indianapolis is not a great race in Cup and has never been.

And this car has proven to be worse than the CoT. There have been a few good races but clean air is premium, you still can't get to bumping and rubbing because of the lawn plower on the front of the car and it's even more aero-dependent.

The aero push thing has been around for years now, The car out front has the advantage and that is one thing they may never get rid of. Of course more short tracks and road courses might help. It sure is more exciting.

They screwed up the place even more so for cup cars when they ripped up the apron around the inside of the corners and planted grass. didn't affect the indy cars as much as cup cars, they killed almost any chance of corner passing with the bigger cars. some of the Indy cars were getting too low in the corners and hitting the wall closer to head on than they liked, so they narrowed the track.

More short tracks makes too much sense.

Bob Dillner did his entire post race report for SpeedCenter on the 'Poser Deck', where anyone can stand and look at the first row of garages in Gasoline Alley.

There are two 'single holer' restrooms at the bottom of the stairs leading up to the Poser Deck with locking doors. And fart fans.

I've been reading about those partitions for the last few days and, for the life of me, I can't understand why Keselowski, or anyone else for that matter, didn't just walk around the damn things and take a look at what was going on.

I would say a "gentleman's agreement". I've noticed that even in the smaller garages at some tracks, where cars are just a couple of feet apart, the crew takes pains to not trespass into another competitor's space.

Had I been the CC next to the 48 I would have had two dozen cameras on 15 foot tripods pointing over the walls. ;)
