Did anyone here watch Mondays game? The refs seemed to be manic. The entire 1st period, they let Ottawa mug the Rangers. Tripping, slashing, goalie interference and even charging never got a call. I watched a ref watch Neil cross check a Ranger 3 seconds after the whistle, and he didn't do anything until a second Ranger jumped in. Meanwhile, they called a penalty on every Ottawa dive.

Suddenly, in the 3rd, they started calling everything, and the Rangers finally got some power plays. The Rangers clearly have a lot more skill and all Ottawa has is goon tactics. It's almost like the refs wanted to make some excitement.

Still, lets go Ottawa, because I don't want the Flyers to play the Rangers, though that requires both the Panthers and Bruins to win but still.

I didn't see the game, but what you're saying is pretty much par for the course. I caught the highlights, and saw Neil spear Lundqvist right out of the crease, and the goal still counted. That amazed me. The best way to describe the officiating this post season is that they call anything and everything, except when they don't. It was so much easier, and so much more entertaining, when they just put the whistles away for the playoffs. As I said in the other playoff thread, that's out the window this year.

Maybe that explains the first and second periods, then Ottawa went too far and started getting nailed. It was clear that the Rangers have a ton more skill, but it was also clear that they need their big guy back.
