I know, most weren't able to watch, BUT I thought it was the best race so far in 2006.

First, congratulations to Kasey Khane for the win. He earned it !!
Dale Eranhardt making a laudable effort coming from adversity more than once and fighting his way to a third place finish, but to mention every driver who showed thier real telents today would take the entire post and mentioning something each driver did that for some reason, today seemed an extra effort.

The heartbreak of the day goes to Robby Gordon. What an effort !!!! Robby Gordon showed he is worthy of standing tall with any driver in the series. His car went anywhere, anytime and he showed he will be a force to be reckoned with this year. Robby deserved to win this race as he had, simply put, the best car and was the most talented driver on the track today. Every driver has a day when he really puts out a superior effort and today was Robby's day. It was great effort by Robby Gordon and his finishing position does not tell the story.
Matt Kenseth had a good run too, overcoming adversity more than once, but he was not the class of the field as was Robby Gordon.

In my mind, this was the way racing was intended to be. It was go for the gold all the way by nearly every driver out there who put thier heart and soul in the effort. I cannot recall any race in recent years where so much energy was put into a race as was seen today. Almost makes me want to change my mind about the way NASCAR is going.

In rating the race, give it an eight !!!!!

Whizzer, I agree with you 100%. Every single driver was putting out every ounce of effort they had.

My heart just ached for Robby --- he had the car to win today.

Congratulations to Kasey and the whole team.

Good show --- I give it an 8 ! :beerbang:

didn't see it, listened to a little while i was at lunch on the radio sounded like it may have been a good race

Robby started 28th and finished 36th.. And that's good? If you feel sorry for HIM how about LaBonte? He led the race..
Betsy

i'm waiting for a replay, didnt get to see it of course from being at school.

I didn't get to see the race. I had a couple doctor appointments in Wash, DC today which took care of the whole day. I read somewhere that Kurt Busch had a few choice words for Kevin harvick.

Congrats to kasey.

Robby (and Kenseth) went a lap down due to tires and he got his lap back the old fashioned way. Going past the leader, Stewart(?) and then racing thru the field to get into the top 10. Same with Kenseth. Then they both had to pit due to tires, again and that ruined their chances. Robby was making some sweet moves. This race was great and I'll give it an 8. And, for me that's high praise.
Any race where KyleP does good is a good race and we didn't have all these wrecks to take away from the thrill of the racing...

Betsy, why so negative about Robby? The man drove an admirable race and earned his way up to 7th (I think) before the ole Goodyears did him wrong. Robby has driven almost everything except the Space Shuttle, and I have to admire his talent and tenacity.
Bobby Labonte looked like the man to beat early, until his engine blew. I would say watch out for Petty Enterprises in the future.

Listened to the race while working and as a Kahne fan, I loved it. I won't give it a number rating as I didn't get to actually see the race, but it sure sounded great. Radio announcers, like those in the TV booth, tend to stick with certain drivers and that means that they have little to say about most of them unless they are doing something very special. It took them a while, but they had nothing but good things to say about both Matt Kenseth and Robby Gordon. Both of those cars were very strong and had things been a bit different in the cautions, they would probably have ended up 1 and 2. But as a caveat, they did have problems with their tires and that meant they probably set up their cars a bit more aggressively than those who did have much problems. Also, over driving the cars can wear out the tires faster as well. Robby sounded as though he is trying to prove something but he doesn't have to prove a thing. I'm glad that he will be in the top 35 so he won't have to worry about getting into the races. Matt Kenseth, what else can be said about him. He's having a great year so far and will always be a threat. Kasey, it's great to see him finally driving a stock car like he should instead of driving it like a sprint car. And lastly, though I hate to say it, Jimmy Johnson is having a championship year so far without a doubt.

Kat my point was that if he had set his car up to NOT wear out the tires he would have finished bout where he did anyway..
If the guys up front had set their cars up like he did they prolly would have run away from him till THEIR tires blew up..
Any of the cars could have set up to the same specefications and LOOKED good for a while..
Consistancy is what wins titles.
I am just tired of hearing Robbie this and Robbue that! All I can remember about him is him knocking Jeffy out of the lead.. ;)

I only got to see bits and pieces of it and got to here bits and pieces of other parst. To put it simply, I'll give the part of the race I saw a 10...but the part of the race I heard...i'll give a 0.

I just got engaged and was spending the day running around with MaBelle, trying to show as many people as possible and my driver goes and has a career day...then, he blows it. I guess he wouldn't've been on pit road if it hadn't been for fuel mileage, so that sucks extra hard.

I just hope that after today, no one looks at me like I'm some kind of freak when I tell them that Robby Gordon is my favorite driver. I've always known he's had that kind of drive in him and when he set out to be an owner everyone laughed. When was the last time an owner/driver went out and had himself a race as good as that? Sure, his finish didn't reflect his race, but anyone watching the race or listening to the race today had to have known that Robby is now someone to take seriously on the track.

If anyone thinks that finishing 28th is bad, then I would remind them that Robby is still in the top 35, and will be solidly in the top 35 after next week. That was the goal for his team this year and not only has he met it, he's showing that he can run a damn good race. Gas on! We'll get'em next time.

Yeah , Robby looked pretty good. Kyle Petty and Bobby Labonte are looking good. I hope that things continue to improve for the organization. I believe that Bobby was the perfect fit for them.

Betsy, Jeff has not been an angel. REMEMBER when he knocked Rusty out of the lead in turn for on the last lap!!!!!! Ring any BELLS!!!!!!

I think Robby wore his tire out by racing hard. He had to to get back in contention. The fact that there were not alot of late race cautions really hurt Robbie and Matt. They both deserved better.

I give the race a 7

you can also WEAR your tires out by racing hard. Set-Up does have something to do with it, but so does the way you drive it in the turn.

I would have rated it higher, BUT I want to see improvement, from ALL the participants.
Honestly, I was impressd with the skills and patience of most of the ROTY canidates.

Betsy, Have YOU ever raced in ANY sanctioned series? I'm waiting for YOU to tell us all why you are such an expert commentator and where your so called knowledge comes from! RESPECT other drivers, posters, etc, ant please stop trying to jam something down our throats or convert us to your way of thinking. JMO

Well Kat you got me on that one! I never even footraced in a sanctioned event..
The drivers that SEEMED to be the fastest wore their tires out and the drivers that were up front at the finish SEEMED to be slower at times but DID NOT wear their tires out..
If the drivers that DID end up up front drove harder they TOO would have worn their tires out and would have finished 36th like lil Robby did.. Should be pretty plain for you to get a grip on that.
Betsy

Or 28th like Robby did, or 13th like Kenseth.

How the heck are we supposed to take you seriously when you keep repeating the wrong information? Talking so much about people who go to church and believe whatever they hear and take it as fact is pretty funny coming from someone who keeps saying the wrong thing over and over enough to the point that they think they're right. Do a little fact checking before you keep trying to drive home a point. Things like race results, fortunately, are facts and can be verified very simply.

Jeez.

Robby did a great job, can't wait to see how he does on the short tracks.

Speaking of short tracks. Guess what track is up next......WooHoo, Bristol.

The #17 team had tire trouble alot of last year and even when they didn't have tire trouble, Kenseth thought they did so it sure seems like they're getting pretty agressive with the setup. Good run for the #8, however.
