Rate The Cal. Race

YAWN. (stretch)

YAWN (look around)

YAWN (is there a race going on?)

YAWN (walk the Corgi )

YAWN.

What we need are more tracks like California and Michigan. (sarcasm) Let's replace them with a couple more like Talledega and Daytona, where racing has taken a back seat to aerodynamics and engineering in lieu of driver skills. Why else would Mikey Waltrip win races ??????? Rate the race ??? YAWN. Four (4).

As much as the booth tried to create some excitement --- I with Whizzer --- YAWN-- a 4.

However, seeing Kyle win was great --- then watch him pick Rick Hendrick's pocket was priceless -- a 10! ! ! ROTFL

Rate the race on a scale of 1 to 10.

I give it a 6.5.
Agree with Whizzer and Racelady 100%.......sure hope they don't build anymore tracks like that !!

Guess y'all just had to have been there.
No doubt.......trackside excitment is better than the tube......but, many, many people
choose to watch a race on TV.....if a race can get you excited just watching the tube, then it is one hell of a good race !!!!

cali gets 4 from me.

it was mediocre, but its good to see one of the hendrick guys won finally :)

I give it a 10. Here's why.
1. I was there.
2. I was there with my 75 year old dad.
3. An up and coming young driver got his first, well-deserved win. (youngest to ever win a cup race)...and donated his winnings to the Katrina relief fund.
4. Rusty got back on the lead lap. (And beat Jeffy and Jimmie).
5. Got to watch Carl Edwards drive his butt off and get a top 5 after going a lap down.
6. Junior blew up.
7. Jeff Gordon finished 21st (my girlfriend's driver).
8. Robby Gordon got in the fence coming out of 2.
9. 5 Roush cars in the top 10 in points.
10. I had many recreational beverages and safely rode the train home, which dropped me off 1 block from my house.

There's 10 reasons why the race was a 10 for me.

^ Bobby, you're a riot. :D

Anyway, does anyone else here feel that these races are just too darn long? The cautions are too long. The commentary is too boring. I dozed off several times.

But having said all that, wish I'd been there with Bobby. :)

Right on man...........and remember, Mikey was a good push buddy too, no one ever doubted he would stay behind Jr and and not try to win one himself until Jr was somehow not able to!

I really like the way the Roush Fords all played patty-cake up front to give each other points, now all 5 will probably make the chase, Roush probably regrets not having 10 cars, he would then get all the slots. To me this rates Mark Martin pretty low but he sure does well in Bush and IROC cars.

Yeah, I just don't understand anyone wanting to leave them. I guess Kurt Busch is soon to be a very rich man ... like he isn't already.

How do you rate a guy "low" that is already locked in 5th in points??

I thought it was a pretty good race. Other than the fact that Jeff, Dale Jr. and Jimmie didn't have a stellar race, I'd still rate it a solid 7 :) .

I'll give it a 9 and would've given it a 10 if Carl had won. :) LOL

Zero championships...................

probably zero money in the bank and zero acomplishments on the track, too. Right?
If you rate Mark Martin "low" then you must not have been following NASCAR very long.

Is 15 years long enough for ya? Mark has been racing a long time too without a championship while once Jack threw in punks like Kenseth and Bush they win?? I guess Mark never knew how good he had it? Now it looks like Biffle and Edwards have a shot?? If you ask Mark he would probably turn in alot of that money for one cup for sure.

If you recall, Kurt Busch's Cup Championship team (the very one Mark came in 2nd in points the previous year) was donated to him by Mark Martin because Mark did not want a rookie kid making his Cup debut with a rookie team. Mark took the fresh team and molded them into what they are today.

Mark's Cup stats: 34 wins, 215 top 5s, 340 top 10s, 41 poles.
Mark's Busch stats: Winningest Busch driver, 45 wins, 92 top 5s, 126 top 10s, 37 poles.
4 ASA Championships.
3rd in stats for top 10s in Cup since 1990.
1st driver to win three in a row on a road course.
Finished 2nd in points 4 times.
Etc.

With that said, do you still rate Mark Martin "low"?
