Rate the Coverage...

You have to rate higher than last week, they actually cut a comercial short for a return to green racing from caution.... They're improving. (that's the nice thing about setting the bar low...) ;)

Were there any other cars in the race other than the 24 and 48?

Seriously, I only caught glimpses of others --- mostly because they were around the aformentioned drivers.

I'll give the coverage a 2.

Might have gone 3, but for the large blooper during the first "sports break" when the split screen said "Live NNCS from PHOENIX ! ! ! !

That really pissed me off after the first 9 laps. They showed Juan Pablo take the lead briefly, but were glued on the 24 and 48 ALL RACE LONG!!!

And don't forget to take 4 tires. You want 4 tires that way you can get to the lead and get that clean air. ;)

IMO the Chase has caused this. If not for the Chase Jeff would have such an insurmountable lead they would have been forced to show the other drivers to keep people watching.

3. For some reason I keep thinking that taking four tires is good at this track.

TMS doesnt have near the abrasion or tire wear of atlanta, but 4 tires still is best. When asked about the bump in turn 2 during the busch race, one answered: "It's like driving on ice and hitting a pothole". Obviously grip is lacking overall and what you can get is what you need.

The coverage I saw was pretty darn good :D

The ending of the race was good with Kenseth and Johnson battling, unfortunately, Kenseth didnt win but it was good.

I missed the bulk of the race because I was watching the Patriots and Colts game.:)

Let's see. Since I learned 4 NEW TIRES is the way to go and that downforce is blue and bad air is yellow AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN..... I give it a 2.

.... on a scale of 1 to 10.

I say 1.

I give it a 5.....I think you guys are to fascinated on hating ESPN.

And the other stations have their tech goodies, like the Home Depot garage that show the same thing.....

The Chase ain't caused dog willy. NBC was capable of showing us the race and finishes every race last year, without sticking the 48 in a bigger screen when he had a race for the win.

It's not the Chase, it's ESPN.

Last year the Chase hadn't already eliminated most of the field with 2 races to go. You had more guys who could win so they were covered. But, yeah go ahead and whine and complain. I mean you're so good at it.

I suggest that some folk get their numbers straight. According to my numbers, through the Atlanta race, ESPN is down this year 8.6% from last year. NBC lost 13.2% of the viewers last year from the previous year. So, it appears that NBC by far lost the largest number of viewers if you are blaming the Networks for the decline which I am not. I blame Nascar for all the changes they made and the direction they are taking.

Average household rating :

2005 - 5.3
2006.- 4.6
2007 - 4.2

Please correct me if my numbers are wrong.

I rate the coverage a 10+. But, then again, I wasn't watching it on the television. I was there in person! What they didn't show you on tv was the racing all over the track. When the leader checked out, there was still racing for other positions, and good ones too! The last laps of the race, I couldn't make up my mind if I wanted to watch or not!!!! It was very nerveracking!!! But, I got to see Jimmie win the race and that was AWSOME!!!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Well, didn't the Atlanta race start late last year and end on CNBC?

I know Texas started late also and ended on CNBC.

It was also relevant.

I miss the 90s ESPN, back when Bob and Benny were in the booth and Keith and Dan were on SportsCenter. :D
