Rate The Last 2006 Race

I don't know the drama was put there by the announcers. Did anyone really believe that Jimmie wouldn't finish near the top? That Matt could overcome the lead. Once Jimmie got into the top 20 you had to know he would win.
The racing was good - 7 or 8.
TV coverage was about what I expected considering it was not only the last race but NBC's last race as well.

BP, you don't call JPM almost being BBQ and Newman to the hauler drama? ;)

So Newman goes to the hauler. He's been before. As to JPM being BBQ, I'll still ask if he's going to be the next Bill Lester. Put into the wall often to discourage him from the sport. Face it the Diversity program just isn't working.

raising hand, I did.

You're right. I shouldn't have said that...
Still, Matt hadn't shown anything in the past several races that would lead me to believe he would win. Not with the competition he was up against. Whereas Jimmie had shown that he did have a car that could run near the front. A win against 12th place is not very good odds. And, for each spot Matt slipped allowed more for Jimmie to slip back. Hamlin and Harvick were too far back and you had to guess that Lil'E would overdrive and take himself out.
True, things could have gone differently and that's why we watch but the smart money was on Jimmie.

I'll have to rate the race a 4 ..maybe a 5, it lacked excitement in my opinion. Homestead is a nice track now, multi groove and all, but yesterdays' race was boring except maybe for the last 15 laps. I say start and finish the season at Daytona, even though i'm not a big fan of plate races, it would have been more drama than Homestead.
