I will give it a 8.5. Way to go Gordon and Team. :)

Oh yeah, way to go Kyle Petty.

For me, it was not an overly good race, but not all that bad either. I wish that Kahne's team could get their stuff together, but I'm glad to see that it's not just his team, but his teammates as well. I'll give this race a cool 7.5, but I'm glad that Jeff won.

The strategy portion was a 9.

Coverage was a 10.

Lindsay Czarniak in HD is like a 50 :growl:

On-track racing was like a 3.

NASCAR giving another one away - Priceless.

ditto on 1, 2, and 4...can care less for czarniack, and will hold opinion on last statement

It was a good afternoon for a nap... that's what Tony said he did!

TV coverage during the rain delay was some of the best ever, Kyle in the booth, fantastic and even though I like the winner, I'll give the "race" a 6.5 because of the dang rain.

I didn't get to watch the race. I had to go to a Bible School Program for my Great-Niece and Nephew. I shore did like the end results though.

Probably a 7 until the last 25 laps or so. Then a definite 10. And the fact that Jeff won only tweaks the noses of all the HMS haters. Esp with 3 HMS drivers in the Top 10.
If only Kurt could have worked his way to the top 10 it would have been perfect.

a 2. I like how nascar waited until Newman got next to Gordon to call the race. I like Gordon but come on nascar. If it had gone 20 more laps, Hamlin would have been back out front. I think Kyle Petty did a great job.

If a frog had wings he wouldn't bump his but on the ground.....

Although my man got taken out by Biffle AGAIN this week, (wrecked him on the last lap in last weeks busch race too), I thought it was a pretty good race, considering it was Pocono. More excitement than most races there anyway.
I would give it about a 6 because of chasing the rain and trying to get to the front at the right time with stradegy. I love the stradegy side of the sport.

When Newman got out of the car didn't he say how wet his winshield was? Didn't you see the dryers out there just a few minutes later and it was a dowenpour? How the heck do you think they could've gone 20 more laps.

Pretty good sitting on the saftey of your couch to whine and complaine , cause you didn't hear any of the drivers complaining INCLUDING Ryan Newman I might add.

He didn't say they could've gone 20 more laps.

I think when the result of the race is on the line (and NASCAR pretty much knew it was), they should race back IF it's not a danger for the leaders. It wouldn't have been.

Yet, I'm sure a lot of the people complaining about them not racing back are the same ones who were
blah.gif
about how NASCAR didn't give the Daytona 500 to Mark and were  about Harvick EARNING the win.

The attitudes of race fans are "I don't care what NASCAR does as long as my guy wins." TKJ said that plain and simple.

I do. If I was at the race and NASCAR cut it short (let's face it, they knew they weren't going to get the whole thing in) and ran the race knowing it wouldn't meet it's scheduled distance, I wouldn't be happy - no matter who wins.

At the same time, most of you guys get 500 mile races, whereas here we get 250 mile Nextel Cup races.

And if NASCAR cut us off of 50 or 100 miles of that, you best believe I'd be apeshat over it.

For my full rant go here.

Basically if any fan base has a reason to complain it's Jeffs. Nascar tried every way they could to screw him out of a win. If they throw the Jimmie caution then they ride around, Jeff 1st, Mears 2nd and because it takes longer to run a caution lap than it does a race lap the rains come just after halfway and Jeff wins. Don't believe me check the timing.
Then Nascar gives Ryan and/or Truex every possible foot of racing surface and only call the rain caution just as they are entering the edge of the rain trying to cost Jeff the win. They could and maybe should have called the race a lap earlier.
Then even tho its raining and getting dark Nascar rushes every available vehicle out onto the track to try and dry the corner to restart the race. They knew they would not have enough daylight to finish the race but it would allow someone to get past Jeff. It was when the rain wouldn't cooperate that they finally gave up and grudgingly gave Jeff the win.
What does Nascar have against Jeff?

You don't think with the track wet it was a hazard to the cars racing back?

So no matter what NASCAR did, some of the fans are going to be pissed.

How do you think all the people that paid the money and couldn't come back on Monday feel if they hadn't tried to get the race in?

Good point. If you can't come back Monday is it better to set thru 106 laps of a race with lots of strategy or go home, go back to work on Monday and have to listen on the radio.

The 20 laps was my opinion. I did not whine or complain. The race is over there is nothing I can do and I thaught it sucked. I rated it on my opinion and everything I said in my post was my opinion. Why do you, Eagle1, mess with me about opinions I have? This is the second time in the last few days. Because we don't agree on something, does not mean you have to reply with something stupid. I don't give a flying rats ass about how you feel about something I posted. Are you that much of a ****ing loser that what I post bothers you to the point that you have respond with some dumb*** comment?

Yeah its so hard walking to victory lane after NASCAR gives them races. Fat ass Stevey is asking NASCAR to let him move the pit box into victory lane. Its not like he has to be down their making calls with Nascar on his side.

Under what scenario does Jeff lose this race? Hint: there isn't one.
They don't race in the rain. They don't race on tracks without light.
Jeff won.

kam, Jeff is NOT Eagle's favorite driver.

As to racing back to the flag, it was POURING, Ryan had lifted (it's called smart) and racing back to the flag breakes NASCAR's rules.

If they threw the caution when Jimme lost that tire like the SHOULD have then the rain would have came before and we would be racing today.

And I think they would have crossed the halfway mark before the rains came and the race would have ended. Or, they would have run the 2 or 3 laps in the rain to see if it was going to let up to get to the halfway mark to end the race.

I dont know about you guys....but i know i have sat and waited for hours and hours in the rain just to hear them cancel the race late in the day. It sucks for fans to just sit in the rain all day...i think they after it started raining the first time yesterday and after checking the weather...they should have called it yesterday and waited until today.

It keeps a lot of fans dry.

Especially those who can't stick around until Monday to attend. I'd love to see some numbers comparing ticket sales vs attendance for postponed races. I'd imagine maybe 40% show up.

Which is a great reason they should try to run the cup boys on Saturday...you get the extra day just in case its needed.

Hate to admit it :D ..........but......a good post.

I guess if you didn't act like such a sissy cry baby no one would bother you.

But again you proved my original point about you.

Sorry Jeff is hardly my favorite , but unlike you I have the common sense to know if it's raining, it's RAINING and dangerous!

If they threw the caution when Jimme lost that tire like the SHOULD have then the rain would have came before and we would be racing today.

And just WHY should they have thrown the yellow flag just because Jimmy had a flat? When Robby had the flat they held the caution (which they should) until he started throwing debris on the race track. Then the yellow comes out because it's a saftey factor. Jimmie did NOT throw Debris on the track so the caution was NOT supposed to come out.

Long range weather forecast predicted during the entire day, Sunday, called for thundershowers at Long Pond again today.

It has always, in the forty-nine years of my being familiar with NASCAR, how they operate and is one area where they get an "A" for consistency, trying to get the race in on the race date. Many times it involves starting races with a green/caution and running numerous laps this way. Sometimes it means calling a race when rain actually falls, just as they did yesterday.

Steve Letarte made an extremely intelligent and gutsy call.
Sadly, there are fans who cry foul and the only defense they can muster is an immature response of calling Letarte names rather than taking the high road and congratulating him for being the only crew chief in the garage who saw the potential and timing, gambled and had it pay off for the win.
All teams have the same information available concerning weather updates and any of them could have made the same call Letarte made.

ABJG/ABHMS followers continue to piddle, whine, cry, whimper, moan, grumble complain, slander or offer up whatever ill-thought logic in seeking reason to villify win #79 for Jeff Gordon, all the while failing to recognize it came because of a heads up call by crew chief Steve Letarte.

Simply srtated, HMS and Letarte win because the other teams "give" them wins. HMS teams out think, out smart and out perform the other teams each week. You don't need to be Mensa to understand that and anybody on top of the game knows that.

When other teams get to taking the chances, making the calls and having everything together, they will be in the winners circle.

I was not thrilled with the rain-shortened race, but safety comes above all else.

I was at the 24 hours of Atlanta one year --- it ended at midnight and was still shortened. It was a long, exhausting day for me as a spectator. I can't even imagine what it was like for the people who worked the security, traffic, and concession stands.

NASCAR did their best to get the race in -- the right day and the right distance. Mother Nature said otherwise.

Live with it, folks. If you didn't like the outcome --- take it up with God.

See if only katt had done the jumping instead of TRL then my new avatar would fit...

Having dealt with Richmond this year, I am telling you NASCAR should've aimed for today.

Most of the fans at RIR gave up on the race before it started. So, NASCAR did their best to get a couple of laps in for the 300-something people that decided to wait it out.

By the time they called the race at 9:00, everyone had left.

Dover was just bad luck - I was waiting for the day when a tropical storm would affect a NASCAR race.

Race fans should know that you should almost always give an extra day in the window if a race were to get delayed. The storms that hit Richmond this year were a shocker. Friday morning, they were calling for beautiful skies and conditions all weekend. Saturday, it was just cold and rainy.

Whizzer I couldn't have said that better myself. I agree with you 100%.
