I will give it a 8.5. Way to go Gordon and Team.
Oh yeah, way to go Kyle Petty.

ditto on 1, 2, and 4...can care less for czarniack, and will hold opinion on last statementThe strategy portion was a 9.
Coverage was a 10.
Lindsay Czarniak in HD is like a 50
On-track racing was like a 3.
NASCAR giving another one away - Priceless.

a 2. I like how nascar waited until Newman got next to Gordon to call the race. I like Gordon but come on nascar. If it had gone 20 more laps, Hamlin would have been back out front. I think Kyle Petty did a great job.

When Newman got out of the car didn't he say how wet his winshield was? Didn't you see the dryers out there just a few minutes later and it was a dowenpour? How the heck do you think they could've gone 20 more laps.
Pretty good sitting on the saftey of your couch to whine and complaine , cause you didn't hear any of the drivers complaining INCLUDING Ryan Newman I might add.
He didn't say they could've gone 20 more laps.
I think when the result of the race is on the line (and NASCAR pretty much knew it was), they should race back IF it's not a danger for the leaders. It wouldn't have been.
Yet, I'm sure a lot of the people complaining about them not racing back are the same ones who wereabout how NASCAR didn't give the Daytona 500 to Mark and were about Harvick EARNING the win.
The attitudes of race fans are "I don't care what NASCAR does as long as my guy wins." TKJ said that plain and simple.
I do. If I was at the race and NASCAR cut it short (let's face it, they knew they weren't going to get the whole thing in) and ran the race knowing it wouldn't meet it's scheduled distance, I wouldn't be happy - no matter who wins.
At the same time, most of you guys get 500 mile races, whereas here we get 250 mile Nextel Cup races.
And if NASCAR cut us off of 50 or 100 miles of that, you best believe I'd be apeshat over it.

Basically if any fan base has a reason to complain it's Jeffs.
Under what scenario does Jeff lose this race? Hint: there isn't one.
They don't race in the rain. They don't race on tracks without light.
Jeff won.
Especially those who can't stick around until Monday to attend. I'd love to see some numbers comparing ticket sales vs attendance for postponed races. I'd imagine maybe 40% show up.
For my full rant go here.
Basically if any fan base has a reason to complain it's Jeffs. Nascar tried every way they could to screw him out of a win. If they throw the Jimmie caution then they ride around, Jeff 1st, Mears 2nd and because it takes longer to run a caution lap than it does a race lap the rains come just after halfway and Jeff wins. Don't believe me check the timing.
Then Nascar gives Ryan and/or Truex every possible foot of racing surface and only call the rain caution just as they are entering the edge of the rain trying to cost Jeff the win. They could and maybe should have called the race a lap earlier.
Then even tho its raining and getting dark Nascar rushes every available vehicle out onto the track to try and dry the corner to restart the race. They knew they would not have enough daylight to finish the race but it would allow someone to get past Jeff. It was when the rain wouldn't cooperate that they finally gave up and grudgingly gave Jeff the win.
What does Nascar have against Jeff?
The 20 laps was my opinion. I did not whine or complain. The race is over there is nothing I can do and I thaught it sucked. I rated it on my opinion and everything I said in my post was my opinion. Why do you, Eagle1, mess with me about opinions I have? This is the second time in the last few days. Because we don't agree on something, does not mean you have to reply with something stupid. I don't give a flying rats ass about how you feel about something I posted. Are you that much of a ****ing loser that what I post bothers you to the point that you have respond with some dumb*** comment?

Wow, your clever.
If they threw the caution when Jimme lost that tire like the SHOULD have then the rain would have came before and we would be racing today.

" i think they after it started raining the first time yesterday and after checking the weather...they should have called it yesterday and waited until today.
Long range weather forecast predicted during the entire day, Sunday, called for thundershowers at Long Pond again today.
It has always, in the forty-nine years of my being familiar with NASCAR, how they operate and is one area where they get an "A" for consistency, trying to get the race in on the race date. Many times it involves starting races with a green/caution and running numerous laps this way. Sometimes it means calling a race when rain actually falls, just as they did yesterday.
Steve Letarte made an extremely intelligent and gutsy call.
Sadly, there are fans who cry foul and the only defense they can muster is an immature response of calling Letarte names rather than taking the high road and congratulating him for being the only crew chief in the garage who saw the potential and timing, gambled and had it pay off for the win.
All teams have the same information available concerning weather updates and any of them could have made the same call Letarte made.
ABJG/ABHMS followers continue to piddle, whine, cry, whimper, moan, grumble complain, slander or offer up whatever ill-thought logic in seeking reason to villify win #79 for Jeff Gordon, all the while failing to recognize it came because of a heads up call by crew chief Steve Letarte.
Simply srtated, HMS and Letarte win because the other teams "give" them wins. HMS teams out think, out smart and out perform the other teams each week. You don't need to be Mensa to understand that and anybody on top of the game knows that.
When other teams get to taking the chances, making the calls and having everything together, they will be in the winners circle.
I was not thrilled with the rain-shortened race, but safety comes above all else.
I was at the 24 hours of Atlanta one year --- it ended at midnight and was still shortened. It was a long, exhausting day for me as a spectator. I can't even imagine what it was like for the people who worked the security, traffic, and concession stands.
NASCAR did their best to get the race in -- the right day and the right distance. Mother Nature said otherwise.
Live with it, folks. If you didn't like the outcome --- take it up with God.

Whizzer I couldn't have said that better myself. I agree with you 100%.
