Rate the Race - 109th Indianapolis 500

8 even with the rough start and the unfortunate fuel situation the competitors are placed into, it's still fighter jets with wheels, and the most badass race on the planet.

7.... horrible first half, then the two clowns at the front at the end. Ruined what could of been a fantastic finish.

7 - Bad first half with all the carnage but very clean, good racing 2nd half. Nothing against Palou but wanted someone else to win. It was enjoyable watching his emotion though.

The rain and constant carnage really dampened things in the first 100 laps, just too many laps run under yellow. The second half really kicked off strongly, Palou’s pass for the eventual win was great, I think the fuel situations and DeFrancesco/Foster ordeal just detracted from the finish a bit too much to be great. They were well within their rights to fight for position though.

I'll go with a 7.

This is the 11th 500 I've watched (2012 and every race since 2016).
The first half was a mess. The rain obviously impacted the race, thankfully they didn't lose the track.
Just as the race got into a rhythm after the first round of green flag stops there was a series of cautions that felt like an hour.

I was kinda less invested in the second half of the race as my guy was out of contention following his pit stop mishap.

After the first 100 laps I didn't expect the second half of the race to go green but I was certainly glad we got to see an organic finish.

The racing itself was kinda lacking compared to previous years imo.
Apart from a few spectacular laps after the restarts, it was incredibly tough to pass.
Once a driver dropped back he was buried deep in the field even with a race-winning car (like Sato).

Track position was king yesterday which is why I'm still kinda mad about what happened to Taku. This was his to lose.

All the pit road antics kinda soured the race for me.
Hate seeing pit crew getting hit and on fire.
