Rate The Race: Daytona Clash

7 plate racing needs a new package great to see a Ford in VL

6. That's the most I'll give a plate race. It has the virtue of cars being on the track again; otherwise I'd have gone with a 5.

Entertaining finish. Need to work on this plate package. Still too hard to pass.

5.

To include a bonus point for the Monster business representative in the winner's interview thing.

Solid 8. I agree that passing is still too difficult but I guess it should be to a point.

Lots of racin if you are already a fan. I'm not so sure new viewers would see what we see.

I'll give it a 10+ Just for Denny beating himself again.

It was good to see the cars back on the track. But I am concerned about team racing when I see the 4 Gibbs cars running nose to tail and the 2 Penske cars doing the same thing.

That includes a well deserved point for the Monster representative and another point for the TV coverage that included more long distance continuous shots showing a bunch of cars racing for position rather than just the usual quick close-up look at two or three bunched-up cars at a time.

Kinda reminded me of the coverage from "back-in-the-day" when they didn't use so many cameras.

Agree. Small field played into this. Maybe we don't need 40 cars. Then again the new rules are going to shave field sizes through attrition pretty well. Time will tell.

9.22...kudos for NASCAR not throwing a caution when the wreck started in turn 1. We actually got to see them "race back to the line" for a change at a restrictor plate track!

It's going to be a long time before we see another checkered flag with all the cars still running.

That's a good point! A 16 car grinder (wreck) might be a different deal.
