Give the race a 9, under the circumstances. The circumstances being all the unnecessary cautions, but I've been there before with that discussion.
It seems like only yesterday a "rate the race" question on Martinsville would bring Bronx cheers and the famous word, b-o-r-i-n-g.
I recall an incident about twenty years ago when Eli Gold was a regular announcer, he thought the microphone was off and made a commment about "another boring race at Martinsville". But what did Eli Gold know anyway.
Funny how the more people get tuned to NASCAR and pay attention, the better they understand and enjoy short track races. Something a large number of old time race fans have known for a long time.
To address the above quote.
Jimmie Johnson can flat out drive. Jimmie is not a flash in the pan but a genuinely good driver and serious contender. Johnson wins fair and square and he takes his lumps. Jimmie might do a little shedding of tears now and then but they all do that. On more than one occasion, Johnson has made chicken salad out of chicken droppings, driving from the back to the front and won, more times than any other driver I can think of right offhand.
The guy is good !!!!!
Not necessary to defend Jimmie Johnson as his credentials are well established. Jimmie Johnson has shown the racing world he is one of the best and from my seat here in North Carolina, he would do as well in equal equipment no matter who he drove for.
If that is what you mean by a "cheap shot", then you defined Jimmie Johnson.
