RATE THE RACE: Michigan II

We saw the passing today that has been missing from the season, so far. 'Bunch of Chevys blowing up today is a good day for me.
2 Fords up front, BradWho getting schooled, Jimmie dropping two spots...gotta be a 10

Yeah but where was that pesky 18 all day, didnt hear a word from him, back in the pack I think.

8.5 seems about right.

Not your average Michigan race. Lot's of twists and turns in today's race.

Thank goodness Mark Martin escaped injury during today's race. Jeff Hammond on Speedcenter more or less hinted that he thought Mark's car would have been strong enough to withstand an impact on his door if it went down that way. I'm not so sure. I'm just glad he wasn't our crash test dummy to find that out. Definitely a freak accident (as Mark said) and I don't blame NASCAR or Michigan personnel for any oversight. Just fix it - now.

Hey Jeff Gordon, you had a bad day and got passed - cleanly - by your teammate. Get over it and move on.

Great drama at the end. This was a fun race to watch.

Sounds like I missed a good race. I watched live through Mark Martin's ugly wreck, and just now watched the last few laps of it on Youtube. Heard about what happened to Jeff from my dad over the phone.

Oh well, I'm on vacation right now, so I'm in a good mood anyway. :D

It was a clean pass only because Jeff lifted. Jr is damn lucky that it was Jeff because most others would have wrecked his ass for that little stunt.

Well, we are just gonna have to agree to disagree. I'm a Jr fan and you're a Gordon fan. You have to admit neither you nor I are going to be objectional on that particular move.
Plus, we were only given one replay on tv, and it's my understanding you attended today's race.
I just don't think Jeff had his best stuff today and he needed to vent.

This coming from a guy who thinks Brad should have lifted when Kyle ran into his left fender on the last lap.

That was different type of incident. (and I have since changed my mind on that and actually agree with your assessment)

The JG/Jr deal is clear. If the 24 doesn't lift there is a big wreck. Jeff doesn't make stuff up and the video is conclusive.:)

You experienced an epiphany? How did that happen?

I haven't rewatched the vid of Jeff and Jr, but 2 things stand out. One, it wasn't near the end of the race, so lifting a little shouldn't be all that hard. 2) JJ, Jr and Kasey were running the bottom all day, which is how Jr made that move. Why wasn't Jeff running the bottom and making that move before Jr even got to him?

I think you are both right . Junior made a clean pass and got the spot , Jeff had some momentum and had to lift . That's just racin. Jeff would've done the same thing .

TED got it all right, IMO.

As for the race 8.5 seems about right to me.
Cutting 100 miles off of the race distance has done wonders for the racing at Michigan and Fontucky!

And the fact that I scored 340 points (and moved UP 4 spots) in the Fantasy League makes it even sweeter!!

Michigan has been a 400 mile race since 1969. ;)

10. St. Jeff the Devine fail further out of the wild card race. The afflictions and suffering of his disciples pleases me. The only regret will be missing his disappearing act during the day chase, or the prolonged sufferings of his righteous fans.

Greg, you post some great stuff, but you gotta lay off them mushrooms. ;)

What do you mean by day chase, or is that a typo?

That right there is the most unique way of saying "I like it when people get mad", that I've ever seen. Nicely done

1.Day Chase is a typo, sometimes my droid does some auto correction, and the only way I can edit is to do a full delete, and retype I blame my user skills for that.
As a rule of thumb if it is brilliant that's what I meant, if it sucks blame the phone. I also post while I am supposed to be working and I have more typos then most.

Alrightee then.

It was 500 miles at Fontucky till just a couple years ago... I will take your word for it, Smoke.

You are right about Fontana. That track needs to be a zero mile track sooner than later. :D
