RATE THE RACE: Richmond I

9 Awesome race, awesome track. Excellent night to have Hotpass and Fox was halfway decent. I'd give them a 4.

Damn, it was good even though Carl got hosed by Tony's inability to start the race (all night long). My other driver won so that was REALLY good. I'll give it a 9, too. Richmond provided the best racing so far this season. Wake up Brian France.

He jumped way too early and screwed himself. Don't blame it on Tony.

I'll give it an 8. I got to watch my guy score a 2nd place finish and move within 5 points of the overall lead. I watched Directv's HotPass channel and enjoyed most every minute of it. My only complaint is the time differential between the split screens. It'd be nice if they could correct that.

Fox runs a delay in case they have to censor language. TNT and ESPN don't have to worry about it because they aren't OTA but ABC will use a delay as well.

Obviously nothing I could do with the simulcast delay on Driectv's HotPass but I was also having a tough time trying to sync up the race broadcast with nascar.com's scanner feeds. Something was majorly out of sync last night. Not a big deal, just a little annoying.

Yeah when Trackpass censors it throws off the sync for awhile. They really need to just stop censoring Hotpass and Trackpass altogether.

It's a good thing that I don't have censors in my house because if they think there's a problem with what is being said over the airwaves, it's a good thing that they aren't in my living room for the broadcast. ;)

As a 24 fan you can imagine what the language has been like in my house during several races this year. I strung together a nice stream of profanity after the 24 cut his tire. :)

Race: 5 (couldn't see much because of FOX)
FOX coverage: -25

Last night confirmed to me that Fox purposely cuts to commercial just as an important pass is being made, then spend perfectly good commercial time making use look at every last pit stop and caution lap. Unbelievable.

I will give it a 7.5. Pretty good race but Tony really got screwed with the caution.

Race 9 and I am usually not critical of Fox, but they were awfully bad last night for some reason.

I give it an 8 despite my guy getting hosed on the phantom caution.

How do you know for sure it was a phantom caution? I'm pretty sure you weren't there so I'm guessing you are just assuming there was no debris. (what Tony said about the water bottle may or may no be true given Tony's propensity for drama)

Blame the 99.

According to multiple NASCAR writers on twitter, it was the 99 that called in about the "deBriS" on the back straightaway!

I have no doubt that they did say that. What was the "debris"? I understand that Stewart said it was a water bottle but was that it or not?

We never saw it. It could have been a hand grenade. But Tony said that it had been there for several laps before the caution flag was displayed.

Oh, well... Whatever. Pee Wee won and that made me very happy. But I would have been happy with that race even if Eddie Haskell had won (but I am glad he didn't).

Tony is grumpy that he got whooped, that's all it is. He's a good winner but a crybaby loser.
He should be pissed at his crew for blowing the vital pitstop, not the water bottle.
If Edwards had any pull in the debris yellow coming out then why didn't he influence NASCAR in the black flag call?

I can't rate it very high because of NASCAR's decision to throw that last yellow. Anybody who wanted to see some BS caution flags got there way last night.

They did a study three or four years ago including drivers from other countries and officials from various sports . Anyway , the outcome was that they proved ( with something like 96.5% certainty ) that the person who reports the debris is usually the guy who threw it . At least I think that was what it proved.
