RATE THE RACE: Richmond

The race-8.5
Kyle having to at least wait another year for that Championship he left Hendrick for- 10:D

Also a 10 for NASCAR sticking out that weather and us staying up!

I'll give the race an 8 and the finishing order a 9! The only way the finishing order could have gotten a better rating is if Boyer ran out of fuel, and Jeff Gordon / Mark Martin would have finished one / two. Awesome race with plenty of bumping between the cars.

But then I wouldn't have pulled a win out of my ass in Spike's game :(

Last night was entertaining, but I'm having trouble calling that mishmash of circumstance a race. The whole thing was weird.

Race a 7.5

Excellent performance by Gordons team, they made something out of nothing.
Nicole Brisco's pole dancing during Andys blackout was incredible.

I'll give it an 8 because it made me stay up till the crack of dawn.

I think just about everybody in the field led at one time or another .;)

It was almost like a backwards race. Nobody could keep their car fast for long. Bowyer and Jeff timed their turn just right. I'm still amazed Bowyer made it.

I was supposed to be out and gone by 11 pm. Because everything was so unpredictable, I didn't get home until 4 am. I was hoping Jeff would get to Bowyer on the last lap full of that Martinsville attitude. We would have seen some drama then.

And what happened to the 'oil temp problem' ? Did they mention fixing that ?

no, they never mentioned it again. Maybe it was the gauge. I've never heard of someone cutting the trackbar. Maybe the talking heads got it wrong.

The length of the track bar is adjustable also......although it's not a common adjustment over the wall. They may have shortened it to bring the rear of the car forward.

They removed the tape (which caused the oil temp increase) that they added on the first stop and that took care of it.

They actually cut the chain that helps support the track bar. The pit reporters on ESPN only got it half right.

Ahhh, mystery solved. Andy sure will appreciate my using 2 sources before coming to a conclusion. :D

The 24 also made fairly major chassis and air pressure adjustments on every stop. Still, they never could quite get the drive off they needed to run with the 11.

I admit that I was was thinking that the only shot the 24 had was if the 18 had issues. Finishing near the front never entered my mind.

I will say that my nerves were completely shot after the race. My heart was racing and head was throbbing from sensory overload. Watching Kyle's Hotpass (which featured MRN audio along with the ABC/ESPN video feed) and listening to the 24 scanner was very intense.

Upon further review they cut the chain for the sway bar and disconnected the bar. Maybe the chain got bound up with all that left to right movement LOL

Now that explains it better. I remember this happening to some other car a while back. The new sway limits just may have thrown a curve at HMS. JJ didn't run all that well last night, and Kasey and Jeff took some time to get things working.

I wonder if taking the chains off gave it more movement?

Damn Fender, one of your best avatars yet.

The chain sometimes will get bound up. It runs from the rail to the axle tube and is used to keep the rear end from dropping to far and releasing the springs. When it gets bound up it restricts rear end movement.

That explains the entire 24 team being confused about what the hell happened to the car and then it taking off like a jet after they cut the chain and he was the fastest car on the track from then on.
