Cons: the huge wreck that decimated half the field, Fox Sports 1's ridiculous scoring display.

Pros: a Toyota in Victory Lane, plus some of the best racing I've seen at Daytona in years, the remaining drivers looked like they were having a blast.

Rating: 8

I give the racing a 9, and folks that is the first time I've done that on a plate track. I like the new ticker on the right, much easier to read IMO, and it doesn't bother me in the least. The 500 is going to have a lot of bent up equipment, but the racing should be much better. Maybe we will get an out of no where driver this year as a winner.

Always been a Hamlin supporter . He's a brash ,aggressive driver whose thunder has been stolen by the Busch Brothers , Bad Brad , and others , His injuries have also set him back , but this year will be a big one for him.

That's quite an excuse list you have there. Keep it handy. Denny will need it when his mind melts in Texas.

Before the race I had to laugh when Kyle proclaimed "Go Jr!".

I was happy to see the cars back on the track. I wonder what caused Johnson's spin, no one touched him and he didn't make a mistake. Kyle and Tony showed they could pass w/o much help. Hamlin made some good moves and got the job done. I think Bowyer's observation that the fast closing rate and blocking will cause wrecks is correct.

On a side note I thought NASCAR's first couple qualifying for the race was neat, and they wrecked together. I hope to see some of the next crop of rookies make the race. And I always get a kick out of Jr's gloves.

race: 9/10
great racing, lots of passing.... it's to bad the mini pack couldn't catch the 11 to make it a great finish...

winner: 5/10
eh...I don't mind seeing Denny win..

a 9

Mr "all we do is win " will be held back by self introduced karma caused by stupid comments

I don't care that there were only 10 cars at the end... just that none of my favorites were left.
The scary thing was, I kept thinking that the ticker could've been showing the final 10 at the end of the season...

9.5/10

As a stringent supporter of "real" racing, I hate to admit it, but it was pretty entertaining for a plate race. Loved seeing Hambone win. Between Joey Logano's only fan and all the moral compass warriors here who thought Hamlin was a risk driving with an injured back, I love to see him win. If he drove a Chevrolet I'd be a bigger Hamlin fan.

The racing was great, bummed no one finished though. 7/10

Man, ya'll rated it high. Losing so many cars way before the end sucked.

6/10 for me.
I think most ratings are based on the improvement of the overall racing package at Daytona more than the race itself. Plus those last few cars were racing like hell!

This right here. Honestly, he's my pick this year to win it all. Kyle says, "He's a man on a mission."

Race was ok, wreck a thon was predictable. It is hard to believe that nobody at Fox thought that worthless blob on the right side of the screen didn't work properly..More important to include an advertising banner than to have a timing system that works I guess. They keep going backwards. Hmmmm lets see, we can't run a full advertising banner up top with the old timing ticker, we have to show some cars driving around, we already have a ticker below with stick n ball news no room there either, so lets get rid of the timing system..racing fans won't know the difference and we will stick an advertising banner on the whole right side...oh yeah got to put the drivers names and position, we don't need the split times..they won't miss it and they don't pay any attention to nothing but the first three places anyway.

Well it was a good race until the wreck that took out half the field, safe to say that Hamlin was pretty good & there's no reason to think he wouldn't have won had the field not been leveled but it would've been good to see how things would've turned out. I give it a 4.8 out of 10. If Kyle had won, I'd have given it a 6.5...

7

They had me worried at the beginning when they were lining up on the top side and only a few drivers (Stewart, Logano, Edwards) were ducking down low to try to form another line, but it wound up being racier than I expected.

I'm a little late to the party so i just finished watching the race, and i really liked it up until they had the big wreck. Now i understand why there were so many complaining about the box on the right side of the screen. I will give the race a 7 but i don't like the box on the right at all.

The racing alone for me is a 9. I did enjoy that first segment. Seeing all those cars get taken out so early was definitely a bummer though.
