Rate the Race: Talladega II

I'll give it a 3 at best. I usually love Dega, but this was pathetic. What with the even smalller plate, and the new rule on bump drafting, they might as well have had golf carts race out there.
 
I'll be a littler nicer and say 4 1/2

The end was a little exciting expect for the wrecks at the end which bought it down. Without the wrecks I would have gave it a 5.
 
I'd actually have to give this race a -3. It was boring, and it was more like a parade than an actual race.
 
snoozefest.

We need to ditch the wings and go back to spoilers for the plate races. That wing is just a friggin airfoil when the cars get turned around. I thought NASCAR did these kind of tests at the R&D center?

The racing was boring, the flipping was uncalled for (especially Newman's... Mark's was a product of traction and vector forces), Mark trying to drive a flipped race car was interesting, and NASCAR needs to pull it's head out of it's @$$.
 
5 It was a big disapointment for a Talledaga race. The rule on no bump draft is a load of ****. All that did was make for mostly single file racing the first 3/4 of the race. Then the last 20 laps your stuck with 35 cars still on the lead lap and all in one big pack we all knew what was going to happen at the end. I am happy with the winner though :)
 
I missed it all...........I was taking my home away from home to TMS....... :D

Ryan was arse over teakettle with 4 to go.

Mark did the roll over on the last lap.

Neither one was happy. Ryan threw NASCAR under the bus and then ran over them several times. He was one pissed off driver.
 
A 2.................. maybe.

I was just waiting for Jerry Punch to tell us one more time that they could not bump on the turns. :rolleyes:

I look forward to 'Dega and Daytona because they're at least exciting races almost every time no matter who wins. This was a yawnfest. I never thought NASCAR could screw up a race at Talladega, but I stand corrected.
 
6.5, I listened on radio and there were over 51 lead changes.

Watching the TV broadcast now. It's like MRN and ABC were watching two different races.

The ending was a 1, pathetic.

One thing I love about ARCA -- Green Flag finish no matter what.
 
I'll go with a 3 at best. It was the worst race I've ever seen at Dega and Nascar should be ashamed of that race.
 
The last 30 laps 5, if it wasn't for the crashes I'd go higher. Before that 0. ESPN showing my driver riding around in 30th on purpose every five minutes -10.
 
On second thought, watching this now.

Revise my rating to a 2. Trainrace with a bunch of wrecks at the end.

And people bad mouth ARCA....:rolleyes:

This race by far shows the stupidity that is now Called Nascar. The drivers protested a little today by doing the follow the leader stuff for 3/4 of the race.
I'm glad Newman spoke out about it, I hope more of drivers do, it was the worst race I've seen in recent memory at that track. The finish was horrible, Kesolowski once again pulls a bonehead move causing a huge wreck. If they don't get rid of the plates and let these guys do what they came there to do......race, then I think you will see more of the drivers demanding a change. Plates are a fabricated form of racing period. The argument that the cars go too fast, flip over, go into the stands, is a worn out argument that for one thing is not true anymore as eveidence of todays race and the spring race. Cars still get air born at 193 vs 210 no difference, once air born there is no control that 20 mph doesn't make a damn bit of difference. Poor racing, ....Oh have I mentioned I hate plate racing since its' inception? I give it a 1. Notice the empty seats? Most I've seen at Dega in a long time and it was a really nice day!
 
i'll give it a 3.5 just because Johnson was 6th. E.Jr. & Truex Jr both sucked, the COT sucks. They should've just kept the old car, the crews say they have track specific cars anyway so whats the difference. Open the plate & lose that ugly rear wing at the very least...
 
i'll give it a 1. pitiful race for the fans and drivers. the only good thing to come out of it is maybe now nascar will have to reassess the use of restrictor plates at talladega and daytona. i can see them doing away with them and trying something different. what have they got to lose? if it goes from bad to worse they can say changes were made because of strong driver and fan resentment of the plates. maybe they can even improve the racing. <g>
 
I missed the whole thing but looks like I didn't miss much. I think they could probably safely go ahead and hand Jimmy the trophy after today.

umm how did dale jr suck, he led a few times and was in contension most of the day and might of been there for the win if it was'nt for the g/w checker, and I give it a 3 one of the worst dega races I've seen.
 
I'll give it a 3. It was either boring as hell watching parade laps or so out of control, it made you sick to your stomach.
 
If Robby would of won with me there it would of been a 10. Most of the race sucked.

Tony came over the scanner and said "will someone say something interesting to keep me awake"

Someone with the 33 called Brad a "mirrow driving *****" (b4 the wreck)

1st ford I've seen with a NASCAR race.

I'll give it a 5.

Jr drove a pretty good race. Johnson proved that Dega is a place that you simply don't race until the last 20 or so laps. All of the drivers should follow Johnson's lead.

That was sarcasm on my part. Johnson wasn't racing, he was just riding around. Same as some others. Tony told his crew to say something interesting to him to keep him awake.

What I meant was that all the drivers should do as Johnson, just drive around the track, and force Nascar to do something about Dega.

Thats what they did yesterday!!!!

I thing the drivers brought yesterday on themselves. THEY went to NASCAR and said something had to be done about the bumping in the corners...NASCAR took action.

Anyone that rates this race above a 3 OMFG!!!!

I'm glad I DVR the race I was able to FF2 and watch the thing in an hour!!!!

And wow their were tons of empty seats!!!!!
 
I'd give it a 4.

Wasn't a good race at all. I think I would have rather watched the Brickyard 400 than this. The cars were slow, and no one was willing to pass. The new rule on bump-drafting tamed the drivers. The two wreaks at the end also ruined any chance of a good finish.

The only saving grace was the green-flag pit stops. Those are a rare breed on the Super Speedways, and it was good to see that until the end the race was mostly caution free.
 
I would have to say a big Zip from here. Newman and J Gordon both had great comments about the brilliance NASCAR has. Ya know when Gordon has negative things to say it's bad, especially coming from him. Looks like another debacle for the head dumbasses.............
