I thought JJ's victory parade lap (really 1/4th of a lap) with bossman at his side was the highlight of the evening. And that ain't saying much.

I'll give it a 5.

I think I enjoyed the Showdown just a little more, actually.
Look for more tweaks in next year's race after seeing all the segment winners sandbag after taking the checkers in their respective segments. Can't blame their strategy - but, still.

I enjoyed it but I'm an Earnhardt fan. I liked watching him race for the win in each of the segments. Had he won the first of those four 20 lap segments and then ran around the back for the next segments, I'd probably have a different outlook.

At first I really thought that the new format was going to be great. When you see the strategy used to simply stay out of trouble and ride a half a lap down because you've won an earlier segment, there's something wrong. Perhaps they could take the top four average finishes from those first four segments combined? That would then force them to get up in the front and race so that they could start up front for the final ten lap segment.

Watching my driver race every single lap = 10.

Event overall = 6

I didn't enjoy the race. I love the All Star race but this one didn't live up to it. As said earlier, the segment leaders sandbagging it, and there was just a lack of excitement. The first 2 laps after the restart were good and that was about it. I don't know why Goodyear couldn't give them some soft tires for this race. They were 20 lap segments, let them use up there stuff, it's a million dollar race. Glad to see Jimmie win it, it was a great post race celebration. On the other hand, I'm real nervous about Jeff's run considering it's 600 miles next week and he needs some points and win and that car was way off. All of that, I'll give it a 5.

The only part that stunk was 3 cars saving their stuff on a ride around ( JJ got 3 ride arounds if he wanted) then blowing the field away in the 10 lapper. Gimmicks not true racing, Ridiculous. The rest of the race was ok.

It will never happen, but I would like for it to become a true Saturday night showdown and have heat races for 1 million dollar prize. That would get rid of the strategy and sandbagging.

Heh , they got to sleep in their own beds and be home with their families .

The highlights of the All-Star Race was Bobby Labonte winning the fan vote. The Nationwide race was better.

I didn't like the segment winners' strategy at all. But there was still some good action in each of the segments. Unlike many, I am not elated when a particular driver does well nor am I deflated when a particular driver sucks. I watch racing for the action. There was a lot of action.

That stupid-ass pitstop thing, though... I mean, if they are going to make them pit, make them change 4 tires at the same time! Will there be changes made for next year's race? Aren't there always???!

Racing action - 8
NA$$CAR - 4

My race rating average: SIX

TV coverage: a solid 8!!

I'll have to give ratings in segments.

Showdown - 8
Segment 1 - 4
Segment 2 - 7
Segment 3 - 10
Segment 4 - 7
Final segment - 1

I really like this breakdown and I could not agree more!
Your overall average is 6.1.
Right on par with mine - even though we took different paths to arrive at the same destination!! lol

Didn't like that JJ got to win the first segment and then not try the rest of the race, the last segment should be longer. I would give it a 6 overall

I think Kenseth's final start hurt those last 10 laps more than anything. I don't know if he spun his tires or not but it sure held up that outside line.

Here is my rate of the race. I hope you can understand how I felt about it. Was out with the wifey all Saturday night so I DVRed the race. I followed most of the race on Twitter and such. So Lets put it this way when I got home I simply erased the recording and didn't bother to watch it.

That was a mistake, IMO. You missed some really good racing among the drivers who chose to race.
But, whatever...

The people in the stands had no clue as to why the previous segment winners were riding around in the back. They were cheering when JJ was running at the back because they assumed he had car problems. But when he won they thought Chad cheated. It was both funny and sad.
