Rate The Race

I give it a 8... good race..no matter who won or lost.

I'm going with a medium 8........pretty good race for Dover!! :D The typical wild and unexpected turn of events always makes for a pretty good race to watch!! It's a "make or break" track........you either have it or you don't. No in between!! :)

I'll give it a 5... too many long stopages for more than that...

I'm going with a 8, I listened to it on the radio and watched some on Tv. I liked it

Well my rating wasn't because of who won, Mark is on my high list of drivers, so is Jeff Burton and My favorite came in 2nd. I think there were some really bad calls today and it cost many teams having very good runs. As I said in another thread, Matt's comments while walking back to his hauler about sums it all up. My ratings aren't about if my driver wins or not, or about how many wrecks there are. My ratings usually reflect my opinion of the racing throughout the field. As I said "useually" today was some good racing but there were so many bad calls and it appeared total confusion by officials it really had a negitive effect of todays race.

This race gets a 10 for weirdness

I'll give it an 8 overall.
Damn.........wish I had thought of that way to put it!! :D

Pretty much nailed it for way I saw it!!

NW hit the nail on the head! Didn't even hurt her thumb!

All things considered (my dawgs got shot) I'll say      :D :D ;)

8 overall, 10 if the bs hadn't gone on. Nascar needs to figure things out instead of running laps under caution. or go back 10 years and run it that way.

Even under the old rules, which includes racing back to the caution flag, that one would have been a tough one to make a good call on. They probably could have red flagged it while they studied the tapes and data, but would have been griped about too!! It's tough being the one responsible for making calls like those.........no matter what you do, someone will pick it apart. "Armchair officials"!! :) Pretty easy to sit back and complain...........hard to come up with a solution.

Since there aren't any 0's,I'll rate it a 1 :p Too long and too much crap happening on the track for My tastes. ^_^
I prefer to have more cars on the lead lap as well.

One of the strangest races I have seen. I would have to give it a weak 6.

I'll go with a 5. Could have slept thru the first part and not missed a thing.

If anyone had slept through the first part of the race, they would have not seen some really great cars and drivers show 'em just how good they were. :) Unfortunately, quite a few of those cars and drivers weren't there for the finish..........but, that's Dover for ya!!

I cannot believe so many people like to see drivers crash, I give the race a 5.

Who said anything about liking the crashes? In fact, I believe most expressed dislike for them!

give it an 8..because i missed first half..I was doing laundry...and making breakfast..but caught the next half and it was good.......

Please DEW dont tell me you didnt see anyone clapping when jeff wrecked or how about the crouds reaction to the big one.

Somebody likes wrecks????? NOT ME

I give that race a 5, but the finish made me feel great!

I saw it.............it happens every time one of the "big guns" wreck!! Saw it when Dale Sr wrecked for years. I've seen it when Tony wrecked. I've seen when JJ wrecked, Rusty, DW, Richard Petty, Cale Yarborough, Bobby Allison, David Pearson, Tim Richmond, Alan Kulwicki.........want me to continue? It's fans who are not rooting for that particular driver cheering the opportunity for the driver (or drivers) that they are fans of to advance. They would not be cheering if someone was hurt...........even the driver they "hated" the most!! You take that stand crap too seriously.

Some "fans" would still cheer if the driver they "hated" got hurt. It just always going to be a part of this sport.

Even though I have only been to 2 winston/nextel events, at those events people clapped and cheered anytime any wreck happened and they did not wait to see if the drivers were ok. Yes, certain drivers recieved more but all wrecks received a substantial amount of celebrating. Maybe its diffrent at california then at richmond But I know what I saw.

You might not want to beleive it, but there are quite a few people out there that find races are boring if there are no wrecks. There were even a few that admited this a couple weeks ago on the board, when a similar discussion came up.

Smack, that's just plain sorry and I mean that's freakin sorry! that "fans" do that

At any rate................the fan reaction for whatever happens on the track effects how you think a race is? What are you watching? The race or the fans?

I don't want to see any of the drivers hurt (Period) I like to see a Fender get bumped and a car moved out of the way or some tire marks put on the sides of the cars but as far as someone crashing no.

Okay..........someone screws up coming to the pits. Puts them out of the race. Someone runs out of gas. Puts them out of the race. Someone misses a setup. Puts them out of the race. Someone gets a flat. Puts them out of the race. Someone blows an engine. Puts them out of the race. Someone wrecks. Puts them out of the race.

Wrecks are part of racing............be honest. No one wants anyone hurt but everyone wants their driver to win............a wreck by a driver other than your driver is a way for your driver to gain. That's what fans cheer for when a wreck happens. I've cheered when someone gets a flat, runs out of gas, has a really bad setup, misses pit road...............and yes, even when they wreck!! I'm not cheering for the wreck anymore than I'm cheering for the blown engine or lack of gas. I'm cheering for my guy getting an advantage.

Like I said..........way too much attention is paid to fan reaction. You like the sport for it what it offers or you don't. Wrecks are a part of it (not the best part.........but a significant part of it anyway).

I might be happy to see certain drivers have small problems, But I do not feel the need to get up and celebrate when that happens, I find it just plain classless and disrepectfull. Also I do not feel like I should celebrate about a driver crashing dont see how anyone does. Theres always a chance they were hurt not just right then and there, but it can cause long term or permenant problems they wont notice at that time.

Im sure there were people who celebrated at a race in 2001 when dale earnhardt sr crashed and died. Im sorry I find it rediculous and crude, and the people who say they find the races boring without wrecks imo are not real racing fans.

To me wrecks are something you have to deal with they are going to happen, like injuries in football game. I dont get enjoyment out of it.

Good for you Smack.........and I'm being entirely sincere too. I feel the same way. But, I also know that almost every one of the those fans you are talking about who you say are "cheering" Jeff's wreck (or anyone else's wreck) feel the same. I'm sure there were many cheering when Dale Sr wrecked at Daytona 2001..............but those cheers quickly turned to tears when they heard or found out the real severity of the wreck. You can't worry about it. The drivers don't (though it's always in their mind that it's a possibility) and I don't see how any fan could enjoy racing if they were worried about it.

Bottom line is.......I don't think anyone on this board was cheering wrecks today. I also don't think many (if any) fans at Dover were cheering wrecks. They were cheering for the reasons I stated above. You just put too much emphasis on what you see on TV or at the track. You either like racing for what it is or don't........pretty plain to me.

I'm giving it a      would have been higher if not for the scoring problems and so many caution laps.

I have to agree with a 5.5 to 6. The racing was ok. As I said elsewhere there was as much time spent under red/yellow as green and that is not good especially when weather was not a factor. And, you just knew when the start got jumbled late that there would be a wreck taking out a lot of good cars. Kudos to Mark for hanging way in the back and avoiding the whole thing. Overall the ending really sucked even tho I loved seeing Mark win.

Are you guys kidding about the Racing. There were people passing high and low. I give the first 300 laps a ten. When Ryan spun on pit road the race took a dramatic turn for the worse. I give the last 100 laps a 3.5.

I cheered pretty loudly when Tony missed pit road. I was pretty annoyed about the big one cause I knew it was coming.

NASCAR needs to do away with that tail end of the lead lap crap cause this is what it creates. Wich is what NASCAR wants for ratings but that is besides the point. 18 cars damaged because NASCAR puts midpack cars infront of the guys that have a legit chance of winning.

Then 4 or 5 more cars torn up cause they feel the race isn't moving at a fast enough pace to throw a caution for oil on the track. Much better to wreck 5 more race cars.

I didn't rate the first 3/4 of the race and then the last 1/4, I rated the race as a whole. I agree the first 3/4 of the race was much better than the last 1/4. Nascar let that one get away from them.
