OK, every week, I see a rate the race. How about Rate the Season? And just for discussion sake, let us know why you rated it the way you did.

Personally, i give it a 5, and even that dropped off during the chase. Over my 35 years or so of being a Nascar fan, this is the first year where I just stopped giving a crap. I haven't watched a whole race in about 10 weeks, and haven't watched a race period (except for the last 20 laps yesterday) in about 4 weeks. Nascar is losing me, and i know I'm not alone in that.

I just hope my optimism comes back before Daytona. I used to start looking forward to February immidiately after the last race of the year. But this year, not so much.

(actually, the next big event I'm looking foreward to is the Chili Bowl)

I feel i cant give a rating as i really havent watched a race since football started.

For me it used to be nascar first and football 2nd.....the past couple of years its been football first and nascar if there is nothing else on.

Its gotten way to corporate and to predictable.

Maybe nascar hasnt changed that much and its just me thats changed.....but i feel like the sport has lost its edge and is more and more about money instead of racing.

2 - the Chase sucks and Sprint Cup lacked drama that would've been there under the old championship points format.

The Chase sucks. Under the old points format, we would've had a points race every week until it was over. This year, the Chase did the oppositte of what it was supposed to do and created a lackluster championship race.

You knew every week who was going to win the race - and that's nowhere near as fun as not having any idea on Sunday morning.

Sunday afternoons. :D

I would rate it around a 6. Some of the racing was less than steller for sure, but there were some interesting moments for sure. Overall, the storys were good, the racing at times was not. I wish they would do away with bump stops, and give some room to make more downforce. The racing would greatly improve.

Well i will do it this way. i will do every race what i rated and add them up.

wilson and Andy, negative, negative. You guys, I just don't understand you sometimes, well, maybe all the time. If NASCAR racing is so rotten to you, then why the hell continue to watch it?

This season has been just about the same as most of the rest of them. Some races were boring and yet there was some great racing at the same time. I don't feel I can give a "grade" for the seaon, just something like "pass or fail", and to that, I'd give it a pass. I'm a fan of racing and that's about all I can say. I've got plenty to gripe about, but there would be one hell of an empty feeling if all I could do was read about the races like I did for so many years. I'll take all the complaints, the dominations, the boring races over what it was 20 years ago any time. And just think, Andy has never known what it was like to not be able to see every race on TV, even if he has to go somewhere other than his parents home to see it.

What i always watch the race that doesnt mean i dont like it. I just call things the way i see them. The season wasnt terrible but it was great either. It had its good races like Talledaga and its bad like the race at indy. The racing is alright but in comparassion to the last 2 years i would say it went down. I know next year will be a hard year due to the economy but i will still watch cause i like nascar. But that doesnt mean i have to love everything they do.

24 out of 36 races, 2/3, were won by just 3 guys. Edwards w/ 9 wins, Busch w/8 and Johnson w/7. It was almost a given as to who would win, not very exciting IMHO.
I DVR the races now and fast forward through them. Saves a lot of time. Most of my fellow diehards do the same. We all have the same opinion that the COT is a POS.

I agree 100% with that statement. I still love nascar but come on the races just where'nt won by these guys they where dominated.

SST55, if I had to rely solely on TV for the races, I'd go crazy. I used to get Pit Command free, then the next year they gave it to me for half price, but after that, I stopped getting it. But I still use the Leaderboard to keep up with where different drivers are and how well they are doing. It's not quite "live", but I do know if someone is moving up or back and that is a plus. In that respect, I could almost "watch" the race without actually watching. Just as I do when I attend live races, I don't watch just the leader, but where my favorite is and if there is any good racing back in the pack. Sometimes I want to watch how some hotshot driver comes from the back as well.

off-topic.............buckaroo, is that a minor league stadium they are building next to Bus. I-40. looking good.

Yes, that will be the new home of the WS minor league baseball team. I believe they are giving Ernie Shore Field to Wake Forest University.

It would be nice to see 36 different winners in the 36 races. or maybe see a few guys win two. I wish Carl would have pulled it off this year. But with the system they have in place Jimmie Johnson is gonna keep winning titles. He and his team have the best driver talent, crew, owner, chemistry luck, cars and personnell. They have the chase down to a science. Its amazing Carl had a mathematical chance at the end.
