FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Dirt Late Model driver Ray Cook, of Brasstown, NC, will pilot the #98 Bill Elliott Racing Dodge Intrepid this weekend in the ARCA RE-MAX Series race at the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, MI. Ray will practice for the ‘Flagstar 200’ on Thursday, qualify his #98 on Friday, and compete in the 200 mile event on Saturday. The ‘Flagstar 200’ will be broadcast on the SPEED Channel on a taped-delayed basis, starting at 8 p.m. E.S.T. this Saturday night.
“The ARCA ride with Bill (Elliott) this weekend is a great opportunity and I am very excited to race at Michigan this weekend,” stated Ray on Monday night. “We have tested down in Florida and at the Kentucky Speedway, so I have some laps behind the wheel of the car and I feel very comfortable. I think Bill (Elliott) is going to be the crew chief for the race and our pit crew is going to consist of a mixture of Kasey Kahne’s and Jeremy Mayfield’s Nextel NASCAR Cup pit crews. I should have all of the pieces behind me to be competitive, hopefully I can just stay out of trouble and we will see what happens at the end of the race.”
In addition to the busy weekend at the Michigan International Speedway, Ray will also compete in the three Stacker 2 Xtreme Dirtcar Series events that are scheduled for this week. Ray will be in competition tomorrow night for the $10,000 top prize at the Davenport Speedway in Davenport, IA. “The Tarheel Tiger” will then travel back and forth by plane between his ARCA commitments and the ‘Masters’ event at the Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, WI on Friday and Saturday. This year’s edition of the ‘Masters’ will consist of a pair of $10,000 to win shows. Ray is currently sixth in the XDCS point standings heading into the busy week. You can learn more about the three Stacker 2 XDCS events this week by logging onto www.xtremedirtcars.com.
NASCAR star Bill Elliott will also be in competition this Friday night at the Cedar Lake (WI) Speedway. He also has an autograph session on tap for Friday afternoon. The details about his appearance at the Cedar Lake Speedway are located at www.cedarlakespeedway.com.
Ray Cook is coming off a disappointing ‘Dream 100’ weekend at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, OH. The pinion mount broke on the Dodge / Bill Elliott Racing / Evernham Performance Parts #53 MasterSbilt Intrepid in the opening laps of the heat race, causing the rear end to shove over and take out the driveshaft. Ray finished 20th in his heat race because of the mechanical problems and was forced to watch the $100,000 to win ‘Dream 100’ from the grandstands.
