No 4th car for RCR in 2010? Richard Childress Racing will move into the future as a three-car team for 2010. Sponsorship was not available to run Casey Mears' #07 car this season but #31-Jeff Burton, #29-Kevin Harvick and #33-Clint Bowyer will remain. "Right now we're going to run three Cup teams out of our shop," said [team owner Richard] Childress, "and possibly a rookie somewhere along the line but, right now, it's three teams. Casey, I'm hoping to try to find him something (at another team). He hasn't landed anything yet. He's a great guy and did a great job for us at the end of the year and I just wish there was something we could do with him but right now, I don't want to do anything with a fourth team that's going to take away from our other three teams.

Front Row Motorsports Announces 2010 Plans: Front Row Motorsports announced it will continue its growth by adding an additional full-time NASCAR Sprint Cup program in 2010. The teams will be the newest members of Ford Racing and receive engines from Roush/Yates Racing Engines and technical support from Ford Racing.
The team also confirmed that Travis Kvapil will pilot the Long John Silver's Ford [supposedly #34] and Kevin Conway, who will compete for Raybestos Rookie of the Year honors, will drive a second full-time entry in the Sprint Cup Series with sponsorship [supposedly #37 Extenze] to be announced in the coming weeks. Both teams will make their debut at the Daytona 500 in February.

New Cup team with Cook? NASCAR Truck Series Veteran Driver Terry Cook will be driving in the Sprint Cup Series this season. Terry Cook will drive the #46 Whitney Motorsports Dodge Charger for Michigan based business man, Dusty Whitney. The team will have to qualify into the first 5 races on speed with hopes of catapulting the team into the top 35 in points. "Terry did a fantastic job qualifying the #91 Nationwide Car last season and we are hoping for the same qualifying success in our #46 Sprint Cup Car", adds Whitney. Cook, who has competed in the truck series since 1996 and holds the record for the most consecutive starts in the series at 296, is ready to start building a stat sheet in the Sprint Cup Series. "It's always been my goal to advance my career to the pinnacle of our sport" notes Cook. Cook will also be vying for the Raybestos Rookie of the Year honors. Whitney Motorsports hired an accomplished Sprint Cup crew chief to head up the effort. Buddy Sisco joined the team and is excited for the potential this team has for success. The team purchased several cars from Richard Petty Motorsports as a result of their merger with Yates Racing. Whitney Motorsports does not have a primary sponsor heading into the season opener Daytona 500.

that's a pretty tall order expecting (hoping) terry makes the first 5 races as a rookie with a new team and gets into the top 35 in points. will they still be around for a 6th race? good luck to them. :)

Im assuming they will attempt the first 5 and if there not in the top 35 in owner points they will pack there bags

I dont have a problem with field fillers at all..........in fact it makes qualifying more interesting, especially when they qualify on time but get bumped by the 35 rule....which is BS and a rule intended to keep them as field fillers

Good move by RCR, Casey was a terrible addition. Now can Harvick.

Couple more field fillers -

Almirola in the #09 car for full season? Aric Almirola will drive the #09 Phoenix Racing car in 2010. The team plans on running the full 2010 season in Sprint Cup. No word if the team will remain a Chevy/Dodge team or form an alliance with another team or switch manufacturers.

Mike Bliss will pilot the #36 Wave Energy Drink race car for Tommy Baldwin Racing in 2010 and Michael McDowell will continue his marketing relationship with the sponsor. After careful consideration, Baldwin chose Mike Bliss to lead his 2010 program. “Mike brings a lot of experience to the table and next year, we’re stepping everything up,” said Baldwin. “He gives us the best chance to qualify for the Daytona 500 and get ourselves in the top-35 in points after the first five events of the 2010 season.
