Re-run Of Spring Race @ IHRA World Finals

Hey a buddy of mine finished 3rd in the IHRA season point standings this year. He had a chance to win outright, but things didn't exactly go his way.

The event was televised last night on speed, but all they showed was the Spring Race re-run (orginally rained out). This event acted as the qualifier for the Wold Finals held the following day.

Frank Gugliota in his 815 cid Ford faced off against Rick Jones in his 815 cid Mopar (both Hemis) in the Semis. Frank bulbed RJ but then the right rear tire shook and he shot hard right into RJs lane. Frank steered hard left and wound up hitting the left jersey wall.

That put Frank out of the Spring re-run race, but he had a good spot for the following day. With the help of Rick Jones, Jerry Haas and his Crew Chief Chic Denino they gat the car ready overnight...unfortunately Frank was late out of the gate in round one and that was that.

PS...so I can't spell Frank's last name!!!??? Make that 2 Ts in Gugliotta!
 
Well congrats yo your buddy, 3rd is pretty good in my book. Those big blocks have to be difficult to drive thats for sure. Mabey for next year he should steer away from the hemi, hehe.
Do they get delay boxes or any neat gizmos like that?
 
LOL! No, drivers aids (well a low and high side chip, but you know what I mean). Sweet! Aint' it!
