It amazes me how many teams, especially top teams, have become so reactive to team problems instead of proactive. Last year, we saw the 8 and 24 teams make changes after they were eliminated for competing in the Chase. It was obvious that changes needed to be made. The teams improved some over the last 10 races and are in good shape this year.

This year, we have RYR making a reactive move after losing their driver. This team has been in decline for a few years. It took them losing their most recognizable driver to start making changes. Are these team owners just too stubborn to admit they are wrong?

I think complacency also plays a role. You are good for so long, that you get "set in your ways". You know, the old "it was good enough for ....., so it's good enough for me."

At least Yates has awakened to the fact that he is having troubles.

Sometimes you have to have the short hairs yanked before the lights come on.

Yeh true , but Yates has been in trouble for 3 years now, seems a little late IMO. I still think Jack is pulling the strings, but i could be wrong.

Yates is in trouble because he only has two cars and one of them is driven by a guy in the sunset of his career.

The drivers are not the problem , it is management. Yates program has been going downhill for at least 3 years now, a restructuring is needed, which is now in the process. I'd be more than willing to bet DJ gets a win for Toyota next year, he still has some good years left.
